Hi again Katrin, perhaps the Florida airports could set up donation boxes for cash to help the hurricane ravaged areas of the Florida Southwest Paradise Coast . Also, perhaps Publix could collect donations from customers to help out the hurricane victims and families. Everybody needs to do their part to rebuild the Sunshine State on a National level. I'm in Englewood, we didn't do so great. But my home is still liveable for now and many down here aren't so lucky. My daughter lost her house. Glad Sarasota is okay

So happy that our beloved Siesta Key and Sarasota are both ok. I'm very sad about Fort Myers, Naples, Sanibel. It is incomprehensible the amount of damage Mother Nature can cause.

Fabulous Katrin, we're from Scotland but we know Lido Beach so well, we've stayed there about a dozen times, glad that you had very little, if any damage, and I noted also from some other reports Armand Circle escaped pretty good too apart from a few uprooted trees. can't wait to get back, take care.

Sarasota was our home for years, I love it. My wife is from Venice. We left after Charley. Red Tide, Over crowded beaches, Crime , Dead fish floating the canals every summer. Sarasota aint what it used to be

Nice to see that you made it okay. It's important to get back to normal as much as possible so providing this content helps, people like me at least, to get a little closer to normal. I love your videos and the way that you think. I've been so busy, as a contractor, helping people, not charging them, but also looking around and seeing some opportunity in this destruction. It makes me feel a little weird when I see dollar signs in other people's misery, I guess that is why I help so many people for free. But this is also a literal windfall for people like me, who make money fixing things. Florida has a very strong building workforce so once the area is cleared, the building will be faster than in most places. I was down in Port Charlotte, working, from 2004-7, after the Charlie and before the housing bust. Things went up quickly. They will again. In fact, this windfall may actually help Sarasota's housing downside a little bit. Normally the building workforce is out of work during a Florida recession but this could keep some people busy for a couple of years, all the way through this current recession that we have nationally (stock market and gdp don't lie.)

@@katrinreal I am a painting contractor in Sarasota, Longboat, Siesta and Lakewood Ranch. You may like this real estate-related story. I sold everything; house, ira and 401k to money market in February of 2021. I didn't want to deal with the upcoming volatility in the markets that I felt was coming. So I bought assets that don't really go up or down in price to hold some of it in something other than cash: mobile homes. Well I can tell you that while the prices of mobile homes don't go up or down as much as stocks, Sarasota real estate during a correction, bitcoin (joking), there is certainly volatility when a hurricane scurries over the top of you. I had no damage to anything so it all worked out. Within the park I live in (Winds of St. Armands) there are many mobile homes that were totaled, and some that need so much work that they may be left for dead. I personally can fix them up from top to bottom, doing flooring, new windows, putting plywood on the outside and then siding, drywall on the inside and then texturing the walls, new kitchens and new bathrooms. It's actually been a good move for me and now I see lots of value in mobile homes. A person like me can buy one in distress and fix it for less than $25,000 total investment. You can then clear about $7,000 to $10,000 per year renting it out or sell it for $40-45k. Some in the park here are like little houses and I never thought that I could live in anything other than a house, but this has worked out fine. Once the market corrects locally I am going to buy a small house, hopefully with no tall trees for hurricanes to toss around, and fix it up from top to bottom the way that I want it. Then I will do the same for rental units; duplex, maybe a small hotel that needs lots of work. Do that for the rest of my 40's and maybe to age 75 and then just take life as it comes until I reach roughly 110. That's the current plan.

Indeed, many lost their homes...or have to deal with extreme flooding which is very damaging to the home. Not to mention the number of people that have died because of the storm.

Thanks Katrin for the compliment. My friend Don has been in Sarasota/ Bradenton for 15 years now. We worked together at Kroger in La Grange, KY for many years. I have several friends in Sarasota who own businesses, David at Sarasota Rare Coin Gallery, Jim Miller who is with Ashland Investments. Watches and rare timepieces. I love Sarasota and have been visiting there since I was 14 years old in 1976. Iam still a teenager at age 60 now. My 2nd cousin used to own a home in Venice too. @@Qatari2007 Oh no TPC is just fine....just some debris that needs cleaning before I do a video. It did well during the storm. A few have had downed trees or ripped pool cages, but all in all, the community is in good shape. I can get in and out but you won't get through the gates. You will need a realtor.

First minute and a half flies over what seems to be Neal Vicenza, then over Venice Woodlands. Our street Baneberry at around 1:00 on. Later on, extensive flyover River Rd, Grand Palm and other communities.

@@katrinreal Venice Woodlands retention ponds made of former hammocks performed as designed. Toll Bros homes on Mistiflower not flooded, water from ponds reached pretty close to back lanais. Jackson Rd to east shows as flooded. Border Rd looks clear. Venice Woodlands streets look clear. Roofs appear to be undamaged. Our lot is visible, high and dry. Thank God!
