My wife and I had been to Sanibel and Captiva several years ago and loved their touch of tropical beauty and beautiful beaches. Our prayers that all of that part of Florida recovers in time with few scars.

So heartbreaking! We have a home in Bonita Bay and yours was the best video showing what the beach park now looks like. 😢 We are so sad that there is so much destruction.

We lived at Casa Bonita II for 6 months and also at Dolphin Way for 1 month. I am so sad for Nature here. This was a paradise for birds, manatees, sea turtles, mangroves and so much marine life. Now I hear the water is filthy and it appears that the trees are all defoliated or dead. What a devastating blow to Natural Florida. Humans can clean up and collect insurance money. Nature will take a very long time to heal from this. The toll on manatee populations is untold at this point. They could soon be facing extinction. :(

Oof… my grandparents had a condo at Gulf Harbor on Little Hickory Island in the 90s - 00s. We haven’t been back to Bonita since ‘06, and they’re both long gone for this world… but it still hurts to see.

Thank you for sending this. We share a house there. Unfortunately you panned to the west side of the road as you passed by. Do you guys have the full east side you can post? We are very anxious to get footage and can’t get any. This is the closest we have come.

Two guys riding bikes, you see more damage with the slower video, and they pan to both sides. Hopfully you see what you want. kzbin.info/www/bejne/apKTdaR8hZV7rac

Hi Dave. The bridge from hickory was compromised. I believe they got emergency vehicles over it to check for anyone out there. And big Carlos is closed from the north end.

This is but a small indicator of what is coming in the months and years tocome. Climate catastrophe is real and those who don't believe it are in for a very rude awakening. Peace for ALL Species.

Downtown Beirut was rebuilt and so will Bonita Springs. It is painful to watch the devastation.

@@jrac863 We lived in Beirut from late 1960s-1990 before moving to the US. We have seen Beirut fall (1975-1990 civil war) and rise in the 1990s and fall again due to corruption. We have a vacation home in Bonita Springs so we love the area and come here every month. We have walked those beaches many many times; the white sand beach in Bonita is priceless and now blown by the wind. People in the US are strong and resilient; they will rebuild. The problem is that with rising water and climate change, another hurricane may happen sooner than we would like. Maybe we have to plant huge areas of mangroves that may soften any future hurricane hit and water surge.
