You've inspired me to pull out my metal detector and go hunt for treasure, on the Treasure Coast where I live! Thank you!

That is so cool! We need to get down to the Treasure Coast and find some Spanish gold and silver! Glad you're getting back out there! Hope it doesn't take you too long to find a lot of great stuff! Cheers!

Nice hunt and ring! You can purchase a ring mandrel and little jeweler hammer to fix bent rings, they sell them as a pair..
@TheDetectingDuo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks @TreasureTom! We'll probably need to pick a set up! I have typewriter tools that can do the job, but probably not as well as using a mandrel. The 2nd ring in this hunt is already pretty round and more easily adjusted. Cheers-Scott

Heading out again this afternoon .

Hope you find some good stuff! We tried last night, but tide was up to the wall. Given low tide was to be around 10pm, and we were there about 6:30pm - but still rather far up for a tide moving out! We might head out again tonight. Hope your home area survived the storm! --Scott

@@TheDetectingDuo I was on Daytona till just after 8:00 pm and the surf was still hitting the sea wall. Not much beach . Found about 20 coins . Soaking them in vinegar now to see if I got any oldies !
@TheDetectingDuo2 жыл бұрын
@IDigDaytona - That's great that you were able to get out there and find a bunch of coins! Tuesday was just strong water and strong cool air wind so we didn't detect then. We need to get back out on NSB before the sand builds back up and see if we can find any more old ones. The clad pennies that have been out there for a while are just falling apart. The thin copper gets pitted and the zinc just gets eaten away by the vinegar, I think. Or, more likely just the wear of the salt water and sand has just worn them down.

@@TheDetectingDuo I found another handful of coins yesterday . Tide was so high there was not much beach. I think the oldest coin was 1961 . No old silver . Jimmy Crossbones has a video showing beach damage . Seawalls down !

Nice! Oldest we found was '72 Penny. We saw @JimmyCrossbones video. Nice of him to document all the seawall damage! What a big mess! Came close to loosing some buildings by the looks of it.

Hello, I’m gonna be sub #503. Love beach hunts, as I don’t get to the beach much, so I’ll just watch. HH!

Thanks for helping push us over 500! I hope our videos are entertaining. Perhaps we'll see you down on New Smyrna Beach someday! The beach is always fun.

You should check out Green Mountain Metal Detecting. He’s got great music and camera work, adds back stories, and filters out the chirpy sounds by wearing headphones. Give everyone their own digger so production doesn’t stop while you all gather. You have a beautiful location.

Ha! Nice plug for Green Mountain! From our channel you wouldn't know that I've had over 30 years in the TV and Film production field and I know how to assemble a broadcast quality show. Yes, these beach detecting videos are of the raw, gritty get out there and find it type videos. We're simply documenting our treasure hunting and not creating a full story (at this time). I've seen the Green Mountain channel. Very good production value, good use of music, shots, dialog, etc. Finding and using music has its own challenges. His channel appears to be more of a reality TV style with the supporting music and dialogue -- finding old relics in great places. Very little actual metal detecting shown. I don't care for the jump cut dialogue editing that he and others do, but seems to be a YT style these days. Still a pleasure to watch his programs. Right now our production is very basic. We plan to increase production value up to what you'd like to see, but KZbin is a strange media environment. Some like the raw, gritty look and feel, others like move the style of Green Mountain. If I were doing full TV reality style documentaries for these, then I'd have the back stories, B roll, cut-away shots, etc. We're just not there yet! We're still the raw, albeit edited, but basic beach metal detecting format. It'll change over time and the production value will increase. As far as the "chirpy" sound. We don't want to wear headsets as that removes the ability for the viewer to be in the action and actually hear the target as well as the VDI. Otherwise it would just be our voice-overs and visual of us digging something up. Something we'll have to consider bringing down in the future. Terri uses a scoop from time to time, but we tend to use a single scoop in the current format as part of the team perspective. She finds most of the treasures and I dig them. It's all still evolving. Thanks for the feedback! Cheers.

You guys make a bigger mess on the beach than the storm!!
@TheDetectingDuo2 жыл бұрын
Ah if only that were true! Every hole we dig we fill in. The ocean smooths everything out after us. Most every piece of junk we find we take out and throw away. We are cleaning up after all the beach-goers that have little respect for the beach. You ought to see how much junk, cans, towels, shoes, chairs, tents, etc. that people just leave behind for the city, those of use that walk the beach have to clean off. Beach goes don't fill in the massive holes they make which can affect turtles, sea life and us locals. The beach is ever changing so our little excursions are all good, IMHO. Cheers.
