The Villages is actually hilarious; they all drive golf cards like madmen and ram through the gates. There are facebook groups dedicated to their crappy parking. Villagers go to old people raves at Christmas time. Place is hilarious!

My sister lives in The Villages. She is an RN in the hospital there. She works hard and is definitely not a crybaby. She is not from Northern states. She is from the Great State of Tennessee. One should not assume that all people in The Villages are northerners and filthy rich!

Our daughter is also an RN at a hospital in the Villages. She is at work for a possible 72 hour shift (dependending on storm path and damage). Negative posts in here are not helpful. Good luck to your sister Amy. Our Daughters name is Prapa. She is Thai American.

Gosh, you retire to 'samesville' USA, a community mostly walled off to the riffraff of the outer world -- you even retire there from NY -- a state that is cloudy, cold, rugged ( in many places), and, well, tough to live in sometimes; and you move to a retiree heaven (to some), and mother nature invades.....doesn't she know better?

"The Villages" is a complete town, with a zip code, hospitals, schools, etc. It is one of the largest gated retirement communities in the World.
