I lived in Key West when this storm came through. We evacuated. Those few days were so stressful. I didn't even know if we had a house to come back to. We ended up coming back to the island one week after the storm. We had to fly into Miami and rent a car. The drive down was horrible. The majority of the time we weren't even speaking. Parts of the keys to this day haven't recovered. It chilled me to watch this.

I also lived in Key West. I was in 5th grade at the time and evacuated but my dad stayed back with the house. Luckily we didn’t have too much harm.

Same here, but I was in my early 20's and ended up staying for work. I slept through most of it, but I caught the early surge and then once it fully flooded the island. I was woke up by my younger sister around 4 am to see the entire parking lot flooded, car alarms and lights shorting out, and a clear view of the water rushing out of the carport where my recently restored car was parked. It was a bad day for so many people.
