I was 8. My cousin was just born that weekend during the weekend of Katrina. I was living in New York City though and do remember my parents watching the news about this.

This was when TWC was about the weather. Now they go to commercials while a tornado is on the ground! I got so mad one time when a PDS tornado was down, and they went to commercials 😠

the footage was clearly recorded onto VHS, and dropouts are to be expected, although not typically that extreme. I'm guessing either there was an equipment malfunction, the tape was heavily damaged, or the tape was poorly manufactured.
