We had a statewide outage due to a massive ice storm, we had electric services from many states come in to helo restore our power...and a lot of our neighborhoods would take coffee, stew, and sandwiches out to the guys hard at work. They really appreciated it, as much as we appreciated their hard work and quick action. A HUGE thanks to all the emergency and utility services who are helping those in Florida and surrounding states...Thank you SO much, guys n gals!!!!!

States like Florida need to mandate all new homes be of hurricane proof construction. You may think this would be very expensive, but new aircrete construction techniques actually reduces the cost of home construction by an easy 50%. They look like Hobbit homes, but I believe people will love them once they realize how cheap and hurricane proof and fire poof they are. They will need to have water sealants added to their surface because they are not totally water proof, but that is a very easy fix. These homes would also be much cheaper to insure. I believe it would be a great new look for subdivisions.

I left the FL toilet bowl over 12 years ago. Best thing I ever did, as bad as it is to say, if you stay there knowing these hurricanes come thru every year like this, I have no sympathy. I know people who have lost their home a few times to hurricanes and still WANT to stay there, that's the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. I spent 30 years in that horrible place, couldn't get me across the FL state line even by gun point.
