Actually, if you go back and look at the expected track...they got that part right. It was the overall impact/community preparedness that created the problem there. It is the job of our local governments to have a plan for emergency preparedness (If you don't believe that, ask your local fire departments, sheriff's offices, etc...)

@@sureokk - I went back and looked at all of the channels I follow. That's actually not the case. It was expected to impact the big bend of FL and track north inland. The final path showed it would even curve back westward at the end. The models I saw showed Helene doing exactly what she did. What we didn't expect was the amount of overall rainfall totals in the upper elevations that ultimately led to mudslides/flash flooding. That part, was the part for which neither was predicted nor prepared. To be clear, there is NO ONE to blame here. It is was a hurricane, not ballgame.
