OMG 😲 me and my kids left yesterday bcuz I live on cotton bayou which is about 7 or 8 minutes to the North from you Reed! We packed up and headed inland to stay with family but I've been worried sick about my house. I've been extremely anxious and physically sick worrying about what we are going to have when we get back home😭😭😰😰 I'm a single dad of 3 and it's all we had. Reed, Is Dauphin Island expected to be en"GULFED" or split as has occurred in the past??? I'm assuming police have access to the island blocked now & are only allowing people on the island to vacate... Although Alabama and Alabamians catch tons of grief from the remainder of the US...IMO, LA (Lower Alabama) has some of...if not the most beautiful beaches in the world...even if do not agree... we have the perhaps the last remaining "stretches" of natural/undisturbed beachfront anywhere in the Southeast. I've been fortunate to travel extensively during my life and have yet to walk along any beach anywhere where the sand is more white, soft, fine or as the beach as wide as it is in LA (lower Alabama)...then add the water being (usually) turquoise, clear, warm ... hard to beat... The slow-moving system usually causes more damage than some of the more powerful yet faster moving/tracking systems due to the amount of rainfall saturates the ground...causing large tree's, especially Southern Pines to be easily toppled due to the shallow root system anchoring the towering tree's...also due to the numerous waterways throughout the state... Could be a massive problem but sure hope not... Stay safe
