So sorry to see this, i was in Orange Beach just last week for a vacation. Its become my favorite beach getaway. i knew making reservations at peak of hurricane season was risky. Never thought it would catch the eye of an intense hurricane less than a week after i left. Prayers for your recovery Orange Beach Alabama, we will be back

I for one am glad there's a sign that says "Hurricane warning for this area" in the middle of 100 mph winds and storm surge coming from the ocean. I'd never know if it weren't for that helpful little sign!

I can't believe the power is still on. Up here in the Northwest, every time the wind gusts 40+ mph we lose our electric.
@captsean660
@captsean660 4 жыл бұрын
Most if not all cities along the coast have moved all their electrical wiring underground. If any wiring above ground shuts the system down it is disconnected from the supply and the power is turned back on for everyone else.

Live in mobile and our power hasn’t even flickered through all of this. Probably because we have underground power

Yes I live on coast in N FL and they have been working for years to move underground and also swap out all the old wooden poles with concrete poles, they have also been replacing the old string style traffic lights with metal ones. I rarely lose power here and the years that we had storms the power at beach was on much faster than inland. Of course we haven’t had a direct hit here but a lot of side swipes and ones crossing the state.

It's strange that just the bottom of that exterior stairway was destroyed while the rest of it was intact.

I don't know about this area, but where I live, our electricity is run underground, so tornados (or in this case, the hurricane) won't have as much as an effect on it.

Sally is historic. This is definitely a 10 Billion dollar storm for sure. Historic flooding, just incredible! Definitely retired along with Isaias and Laura

I really doubt your wrong. I am currently in the eye and looking out side all i see are leaves everywhere. When it moves out from over us it will be even weaker. No real damage except for midtown and downtown mobile where it most likely flooded.

It's the wind, that's what a hurricane sounds like. I've been through about 4 or 5. Ivan was the worst for me. In a few hours I'll be going through Sally. I'm in Pensacola, well actually Milton but it's just a few minute drive to Pensacola. Pray for us please and thank you!♥️

@@kristie7449 You are correct its wind! We got hit by Sally last month. I live WELL inland in Louisiana and that wind was so STRONG we were scared! All we heard for 7HOURS was whistling, limbs hitting roof and windows, and lights blinking on and off for hours! This was my first hurricane I dont want to go through another one. In my neighborhood alone I saw 25 HUGE trees on houses. We still got stuff on the side of roads from clean up today. Electricity was out in some places 5dys. Hurricane winds will make even the strongest person a little scared! Me and 8 of my neighbors kept texting every hour checking on each other LOL! Every couple of hours those text were getting more nervous. This was the first time in my lifetime hurricane force winds reached this for inland!
