The last storm that came through here (St. Pete) I filled five 64oz empty plastic juice bottles, leaving about 1/4 empty for expansion) and put them in my freezer two days before. These don't leave much room in the freezer, but they also can be moved down to the refrigerator after the power goes out, and they can be wrapped with other items needed to be kept cold, inside a small box or blanket. Frozen juice or gallon water bottles take a long time to defrost if kept insulated.
