I can't believe it's been nearly 16 years since Hurricane Wilma crossed South Florida. This was the last time we really had hurricane conditions here in Miami (we did not get sustained hurricane-force winds from Irma). I was only 2 years old when I went thru Wilma but I still remember it well. Very violent hurricane. I wonder how much our hurricane-free streak will last.

I recall this storm being over in a matter of hours here in Broward. Wilma was moving rapidly due to it hitting a cold front. Once it moved through, it dropped into the low 60s that evening, so being without power that first night wasn't that bad with the cool temps.

AWESOME footage, Rob!!! The wind noise at 1:28, 3:00 and 6:00 is really cool!

Would that be Bryan Norcross in the background?

Great footage but why the hell were you out in that? I mean even if you're a storm chaser take cover till it subsides a little 😮👍

I survived. It's what hurricane chasers do.

As Bill Murray said in Caddyshack-"I don't think the heavy stuff is going to start for quite a while yet "
