If you've a soul at all you'll well up.... Its the video of contrasts and back and forths of Cash as a young man.... Maybe it's the Black and White footage contrasting with modern colour.. Dunno.... But its a moving, moving combination on its own... But for me it's the tears of the other JC standing practically in tears, at the obvious decline of her husband.... Coupled with the events subsequent to the video.... Great song.... Unbelievable song in fact.... Fantastic artist... Fantastic arrangement... Times 2

Not a guitarist for 50 years when I picked up flute, I listen for two things generally not just an iconic tune that transcends popular but to play along with great instrumentalists who do not muddy up the waters with vocals. And then I discover you. More than a few iconic tunes from Wayfarin Stranger, House of the rising sun and then this. Now I would also admit I like tunes I also can play fairly well. Like In the Pines. Not sure when you tour but you are on my shortlist of fav musicians. Thanks for the beautiful work.

My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt I wear this crown of thorns Upon my liar's chair Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair Beneath the stains of time The feelings disappear You are someone else I'm still right here What have I become? I've had this in loop for a few hours, and it helps me reflect on the hurt I caused others when I was an alcoholic for 6 hard years of destruction. Today I celebrate 45 months sober from all the hurt. I don't think I'd be here today if not for music. It's been in my soul since childhood. In the early '90s, B.B. King himself took me upstairs in his Memphis restaurant and told me things I don't remember, but as my mother loves to tell me that story even she never knew -- it was between my kid self and B.B. I feel like from that day forward music has run through my veins. Thanks again JJ and you'll always have my ear.

Hey, Well I declare, I'm in! Bill and I were down in my studio feeling relaxed and peaceful listening to you playing this. The next thing I know, I'm feeling like someone just lit an M80 under me. I was not expecting this at all. Y'all really know how to shake an old girl up! I'm so happy I can hardly think straight. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all the goodness you and Nikki share with everyone. I will treasure this for the rest of my days. Congrats on your million subscribers and thanks a million from me. Love, M.M.

Enjoy the journey, the end destination is not important. After 5 years of daily trying I can barely play it in a simplified version, but I like every minutes of it

The harmonics part at 3:47 is such an incredible piece of musicianship to add. To echo a few other posters, I can hear Johnny singing this song as you play. The pain I hear in this song is only surpassed by some of the posts I've read here. My heart hurts for all of them. Some said my Dad reminded them of Johnny Cash, I guess he did a bit when he slicked his hair back. The last words my Dad said before he died was "Well, say goodbye to Johnny Cash". A minute or so later he was gone. I will forever think of that whenever I hear this song.
