+Gabe Newell Well.. there are many reasons why Lithuanians dislike Poland, some even hate it. But as for myself, got two Polish friend's - both are very smart and nice people. But just to be clear.. Lithuanians and Polish people aren't very friendly to each other. The only brothers we have outside Lithuania are Latvians.

Do reszty ci odbiło?!

+ChillDudeID Lithuanians conquered the present territory of Belarus. And not only in Belarus, but the part of Russia and Ukraine. All the territory obeyed the Lithuanian Grand Duke. And one more thing ..... ... Belarus is a communist invented name which is not even 100 years. So .... Belarusians are Slavic group which had conquered the Lithuanians. In old chronicles written only about Lithuanian principality, and not a single word about the Belarusians.

If there was a meeting with a purpose of reuniting Poland and Lithuania, so much vodka would be needed, that just a transportation of it would take at least 2 years. We also need some good horses, but Mongolia is far away... Eagles are rare but we do still have chickens, so we might actualy make a 1hussaria... Another thing is that we need Ukraine to join too, which is a problem, because they are having a war with Russia, and our chicken - hussaria would not have enough power to conquer Moscow again... Belraus stick with Russians too so right now, before the situation regulate a bit, let's transport as much vodka as we can to the meeting place, like Białystok, because it is going to be a looooong talk. Also we need to bring Jagiełło back... An union would be great.

Feri M. agree , but a lot of armor cavalry didn't do as exceptional as the Winged Hussars . And no one won such stunning victories as those Bada$$ Polish did. The Winged Hussars will not ask = "how many they are?" but: "Where they are?" Those guys really didn't care if the enemy was from horizon to horizon : they will just attack and smash everything to pieces. No other armored cavalry ever dreamed of doing that ...

Unię podpisano z dwóch powodów - aby Litwa uniknęła losu Prus i innych niechrześcijańskich ludów w regionie oraz aby zakończyć problem krzyżacki, defacto oznaczający usunięcie antagonistycznego wobec nas elementu w polityce państw zachodnich.

I spoke recently to an Englishman who was born in 40's. He knows about Polish squadrons from his father but he's probably the one of last ones. He told me that Polish pilots they were motivated by their hate to Germans and were terribly effective in air battle. I wonder if he tells that to his grandsons. Forgot to ask. Anyway it was nice. And the last question: stories of lifes Polish pilots who took a part in those battles would be great topics for movies. But there's still no movie about that. Just stupid soap operas or poor reality-shows in Polish TV.

ypabloworld 4 March 1944 date on that letter, and if you not sure about autenticity of that letter do not say it's nonsence. This kind of words heard from your worst enemy must be true. Authority thing........ you would said something different if he said opposit about us Poles is Stalin authority for you what about Che Guevara on your T-shirt?. Sorry mate but Poland never surrendered an never colaborated, we have created largest underground resistance army in the world over 400.000 members. We were 4th largest army. We were present on all battlefronts of the II WW. German losses to the Polish partisans averaged 850-1,700 per month in early 1944 compared to about 250-320 per month in 1942 and that is only human looses (read more about yourself). Plus Enigma decoded by polish matematicians. Polish navy contribution, 303 squadron in Battle of Britain.........etc.... Hitler changed his mind when he read reports made by his generals and sciencists, but for you Stalinist propaganda of stupid pole, underhuman etc..... works well, if so congratulations you are looser because Stalin is your authority.

michaligiel I am Pole myself and know that shit very well so really don't know why you gave me all that verbal diarrhoea. I'm talking about Hitler's letter only. It is obviously a fake. There is just one source of this information and it comes from "Głos Wielkopolski" issued in 1947. There is no other sources confirming it is true. So probably it's a 1st of April issue. Hitler many times stated what he thinks about Poles and I must say a word "subhuman" was the most common. There is no reason to think he suddenly changed his mind as he was very consistent in his views. Besides it's really funny that people are very sceptic towards media today but one entirely unconfirmed article from one local paper in Stalinist times is immediately considered as true because it heals our complexes.

Nice to see that there are Poles, who know that Grand Duchy of Lithuania (GDL) is Belarusian heritage! Fortunately most Belarusians already know it: thanks to our historians, first of all to Mikola Yermalovich. In fact we also had some problems in relations with Polish Kingdom: first of all it's extensive polonisation in GDL after Lublin union. But still I think that Poland and Ukraine are the friendliest and culturally closest nations for Belarusians.

***** what does huszar mean? where did that toponim and that style cavalry came from? Serbia. First mentions of hussars in Hungary appear in the 15th century right after the fall of Serbia. The retreating army continued the fight against the Turks but this time under Hungarian flag, those are the first hussars. The word hussar comes from the Hungarian huszár, which originates from the Serbian хусар (Husar, or гусар, Gusar), meaning pirate, from the Medieval Latin cursarius.

Nothing against it. Finally Lithuanian-Polish Commonwealth is a good example for the EU. This Commonwealth was the first union in Europe comprising many nations, religions and different cultures, till stupid Vatican wanted it entirely catholic and brought only destruction and hatred. Even the coins in the Commonwealth are example for Euro coins. They were the same only revers Lithuanian or Polish. Whatever comes, nothing can delete the great history of this state.
@pszemo7777
@pszemo7777 9 жыл бұрын
Bullshit, show me where you had in those times freedom in Europe or in the world? And it's bullshit that the Ukrainians fought against it. There was not such a thing like Ukrainians. They were Ruthenians. It was the fight peasant against noblemen. And among these peasant there were also Polish peasants (or ruthenized Poles) and on other side Ruthenian noblemen (or polonized Ruthenians). Prince Wisniowiecki was Ruthenian, not Polish. And his son become king of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. And don't forget in Moscow there were peasant uprisings as well. Coming back to these Ruthenians, you call Ukrainians. what did they get from this fight? Freedom from Moscow? The consequences of betraying Commonwealth were terrible. And they're still suffering from it. They're not free, they are poor and are having bad heros like murderers bandera or suchewycz. What future has such a nation with such "heroes"?
@pszemo7777
@pszemo7777 9 жыл бұрын
Hatred is said too much. I don't mind them. Full of hatred were Ukrainians when they were killing bestially innocent civilian Poles, Czechs, Armenians. Jews, Byelorussians and other nations, as well as Ukrainians who were trying to help these civilians. Make these Ukrainians to heroes. Not bloody bandera murderers. You must be really sick to state bandera was fighting for freedom. You can't butthead fight for freedom when murdering other people because their nationality is different. Well, do whatever you want. But remember one thing, there is no EU for Ukraine as long as there are monuments of bandera.
@pszemo7777
@pszemo7777 9 жыл бұрын
Then when you are Georgian, then first learn exactly who was bandera, ok? As long as you don't learn his true story, then just shut up. Wehrmacht was also murdering, don't forget it. Many Nazi murderers were not sentenced. Were taken by USA because they were useful for Americans. Americans knew about the murdering of Polish officers in Katyn but were quiet about this. The same Britons. They always are taking everything how it fits into their business and don't give a damn about other nations. Good that KGB finally got this bloody bandera and sent him out of this world. Forget nations? Are you so naïve? In the Soviet Unions they wanted to forget the nations and it didn't work. Forget this. We all can be united but you can't forget the roots. Ukraine won't be in the UE. Nobody needs this junk country. Germany wants to make business with Russia. Germany would have to pay the money for Ukraine and nobody wants it. Only the USA are pushing Germany. If not this Germany wouldn't give any attention to Ukraine.

Every charge launched by the Polish Winged Hussars was essentially this rolling and inexorable tsunami of pointed steel, plate metal, wooden wings, hoofs and piston like, organic musculature, all of which comprised the most feared, fearsome and unstoppable Calvary charges ever unleashed by any group of mere mortals (immortal as they have become down through the ages), by THE GREATEST Heavy Calvary OF ALL TIME, and one of the most legendary fighting formations to ever take to the field of battle, post 1500. In this time period in Poland,nobles were doing this for the splendor. They weren't doing this for the money, because to be a hussar,the guy would be really rich. When he's going to the war,he has to provide the food for everybody in this camp around fifty people are working for him. In this time period, all the buttons were golden or some had diamonds. The story goers , when the nobles went to the tavern for drink most of the time they don't carry money, they just ripp off the buttons and throw it to the guy. ,, here is for whatever we drank '' Jesus,Maria ! - battle cry About famous hussars horse: ,, However, it was not only the physical characteristics of these steeds that determined their combat value and usefulness on the battlefield. They could become Hussar mounts only after undergoing many years of arduous training. The training was such that the animal was allowed to enter a narrow track, at each end of which there was a small circle. Horses have been trained for years to run along this path at maximum speed, spinning around its axis at the end of it. Thanks to this, during the battle, they could turn back immediately, almost standing still. More than once they have saved their master's life in this way. All this made Hussar horses extremely expensive, as they could even cost the equivalent of over 65 kilograms of silver! If we were looking for an analogy in the present day, it can be compared to the new Lamborghini. Let's imagine that every hussar had to have at least two or three mounts. This was due to their high mortality during the battle, as well as marches and related diseases and lack of forage. Well, as the classic used to say, you need three things to wage war: money, money, and more money. It is not surprising then that horses that could serve the hussars and other cavalry units were treated as special war material. The state itself was interested in them. From the times of the last Jagiellons, there was an embargo on the export of our horses abroad. Whoever broke them, threatening the security of the Republic of Poland, even faced the death penalty .

Secondly, the question of the roles of Samogitians and Belarusians (Litviny) in GDL. GDL was multinational state and first of all Belarusian. Old Belarusian (formely called Ruthenian) language was the official language in Grand Duchy of Lithuania, while Samogitian and other Baltic languages were used only by rural dwellers in north-western provinces.

Interesting Fact, that the wings on the back of the Husaria, would make a high pitched noise, often leading to the horses on the opposing force to buck and retreat the other way because they were not used to the sounds.

At the time of the Polish - Lithuanian Commonwealth educated people, nobility, towns people both in Poland and in Lithuania had the same national identity. They would call themselves the citizens of the Commonwealth. This was their basic identity. They also used the terms Polish or Lithuanian but those words only meant the region where they were from, something like for example in today's America when people say 'I'm Californian' The Lithuanian elite were all people who spoke Polish, they remembered about their Lithuanian roots but at the same time the country they were loyal to was the Polish Lithuanian - Commonwealth. That was their own country because they and their ancestors created it and made it one of the strongest in Europe. I'm quite positive that if this country could retain it's independence in the end of 18th and in 19th centuries the whole of the population would eventually acquire the common identity. The animosity between our nations were created by the Russians. Now Lithuanians see the history with the eyes of Russians. I remember when I talked to one on my Lithuanian friends and mentioned Napoleon. She asked 'This tyrant who wanted to conquer the whole Europe?' How different was the perception of Napoleon in the time when his troops were stationed on the west side of the Bug ready to launch into Lithuania and further into Russia. The people in Lithuania waited for him like for a saver. They waited for the moment when the Russian occupying troops would be removed from Lithuania and the Commonwealth would be restored. Thousands of young people from Lithuania crossed the Bug and went to enlist in the Polish - Lithuanian Legions. The Russians have erased this memory of one country with two nations who were equals in it. All were treated the same no matter whether they were Polish or Lithuanians. Poles wouldn't call their country Poland. It was not the case. All had the understanding that the country belonged in the same degree both to the Polish and to the Lithuanians. A friend of mine told me not long ago about the discussion he had online with a Lithuanian guy. One of them claimed that Lithuania belonged to Poland and the other that it was just opposite - that it was Poland which belonged to Lithuania. I thought about both statements for a while and came to a surprising conclusion - that both of the statements are in fact true! Polish and Lithuanian history was intermingled and it is sometimes difficult to determine who was more important in this country. Poland influence was certainly the language but Lithuania gave Poland its royal dynasty and many great aristocratic families.

+aśka s Geez, how I'd wish that this short text was at the top of the comment section. I just can't stand all this shitstorm round Polish-Lithuanian relations nowadays and in the past. It's kinda sad that interwar conflict between our peoples and post-soviet tensions on the line Lithuania - Polish minority in Vilnius Region - Poland have completely ruined our will to cooperate in so many fields. The worst thing, that's in the same time the most noticeable one on the Internet, is this pathetic attempt to interpret the history through the eyes of a modern man. Sometimes I wonder what would be the reaction of... let's say Jan Karol Chodkiewicz / Jonas Karolis Chodkevičius / Ян Караль Хадкевіч (or Mickiewicz or Kościuszko or hundreds of other great men) if he could only see all these nonsenses about him being 'a true Pole/Lithuanian'. As long as we do not understand that in the 1600s one could consider himself/herself as Lithuanian, speak in Polish and serve the Commonwealth, we won't stop arguing about the history.
