You guys were the only ones that reacted to this that did not gloss over the "not ready for a black President" line with "we have had one" comment. You guys got the actual meaning. Everyone else took it as "we won't have one". You guys broke down all the lyrics perfectly.

I absolutely love your review on this Tupac song. Tupac definitely was not a thug/gangster. I met him once and all I got was good, laid back vibes from him. He was so good looking, smelled good, & looked extremely healthy. His hug was out of this world. He was a beautiful being that is missed. That energy was real & it showed in his lyrics and how he brought it across.

Very glad I subscribed to this channel, and couldn't be more grateful for this thoughtful review -- from breaking down the Huey P. reference to the current political/racial circumstances we're witnessing in the wake of having elected elected a black president. So few people give Tupac the reverence he deserves, imo, especially as a man who only lived 25yrs on this earth. And "reviews"/real re--examinations like this give me a lot of hope that we might actually become a compassionate, multicultural society where someone like Tupac can be seen as an individual enough to be compared (and uncompared) to artists such as Bob Dylan or leaders like Malcolm X. He was a great lyricist, a great actor, a great thinker...a great (albeit complex) human being in general. And as an early 30s white male who was heavily impacted upon the discovery of his music in my teens, I sincerely thank you for doing right by artists like him by not being another review channel that glosses over the substance for the sake of a few cheap likes and subscriptions. ...sorry for the Ted Talk, thanks for the content!

Another on point reaction to a Tupac classic 👌🏼 I truly appreciate your openness and respect for his music. I love how you touch on systemic injustices and racism in such a real way. One thing that stood out for me was how you acknowledged the misunderstanding and judgement that often accompanies a lot of the things he speaks on such as poverty, drugs and crime. Sadly, alot of people judge what they have not lived through 😢 As a therapist that primarily works with our marginalized communities..... POC, poverty, homeless, addiction, trauma, mental illness etc. I hear of the judgment and stigma many people encounter and it amazes me the resiliency of the human spirit.
@ReactionsToTheClassics4 жыл бұрын
Bless you for serving! I couldn't agree more with your final sentence. Unfortunately as you well know it is so easy for people to cast stones without the realization that with a few things turning another way they could be right in the same place. Thanks Veronica!!

@theplaguepadart37433 жыл бұрын
It makes me Uncomfortable, sad, angry. Then i find my self being racist to white people thought comments like "of course its white people" (im Spanish). So by hating Racism towards black people i ended becoming what i hate except to white people. And i had to catch my self and remind my self its not everyone. its never EVERY SINGLE person. We cant blame a whole for the few bad apples. I now no longer make comments such as the one i mentioned earlier because i wasnt any better then a racist if i was going to do the eye for an eye mentality. One day i hope everyone is able to get along and stop hating and realize we all need each other. it doesnt matter what we are we are all here and we all need help at some point. I hope everyone here and who reads this has a good day, make sure to love your self & others around you. We can only move on if we move on together

Wow, im like wow. This is an amazing reaction. We live in a world where we judge other humans without understanding their perspective on life. It's not easy living 😕 but to also be judged, looked down on and abused. This is why I believe humans gave to find the light within themselves to make it out of this. Tupac songs is trying to help people change and become the best you can be even with all these outside forces that keep the ceiling low. Let's change the way we eat, live and treat eachother. Loved the break down, I wish all people can just walk a mile in another person's shoes to understand. I guess we do when we reincarnate.

There was two sides to Pac, theres was the Hit'em Up, Thug Life Pac because of his life growing up & there was the revolutionary. In spite of things he never strayed not TOO far from it. That revolutionary mind was in him , his mother was a member of The Black Panther's. Pac was cool with all ppl but his main focus was his own because of the issues we deal with. Pac was a born leader, that's why ppl gravitated towards him so much, even in his early yrs. Great reaction guys 👍🏽🔥🔥🔥

The facts that you Shawn and your wife shared are interesting about this song being a hit in various countries. You are right about the lyrics being strong in it's time and even relevant now. 2PAC uses part of that song The Way It Is which I remember and adds his own style to it. You both made some very good points explaining the meaning of the song in your comments. It's not my style of music but I admit it has meaning in the message.
