Bloody wanker! I watched the Behavior Panel episode on this; showing his trial testimony (why the hell his lawyers considered this would pass muster with anyone, we'll never know,) so that showed me what a liar he was, but as far as these details about his partying and how people felt about him and past record and general freakishness, leave it to Mike to ferret out interesting details!

Please people, if you are leaving an abuser, do not tell them. Get away from them without then knowing until you are gone. After you leave is the most dangerous time, so stay safe. xxx
@hermitbob7304
@hermitbob7304 Ай бұрын
Absolutely. As soon as they learn you are leaving, they freak out and its one of the most dangerous times for an abused woman. Just leave, get to safety. Once you're gone and safe, all communication should be through your attorney. Don't meet up with them, don't give them a second chance, don't talk, text, chat, or message with them for any reason.

Exactly! Don't do it alone in the woods with no one else for miles, be with family/friends in hotel they don't know and do it via phone or text then block. The ability to sense danger is so warped in abuse victims because of what has been normalized so please take this advice to heart.

Joseph was quite a narcissist and may have thought the guy was a better friend than he was. He seems like the type who has no idea how people actually view him. The friend kicked him out of the car immediately. I think if it was actually a good friend of mine had done it I would have wanted to know what happened then tried to talk them into turning themself in. If they refused of course I would call the police. But my friends are good people. This friend seems like a decent guy and probably didn't like Joseph much.

He seemed to have no clue what to say although it was rehearsed with his lawyer. Barely said much of anything. His story was they got in an argument, he left on a walk with their dog. Returned, she was in bed. He had to climb over her to his side of the bed and when he did, she hit him and punched him in the you know what. He responded something like "you shouldn't do that." Then got onto his side of bed and saw she was pulling out her gun under her pillow and scared, he pulled out his glock with silencer and shot her to save his life.

This was triggering for me because i dated a guy like this. Im so lucky i got out when i did. I was a 23 yo single mom and he was 37. He policed every single thing i did, wore, and ate. But he was allowed to do whatever he wanted, and eventually it came out that that included dating other women, despite his pathetic, childish jealousy. The day i dumped him i saw a look in his eyes ive never seen before in anyone elses, nor have i seen it since. It was like if ice could be on fire. I knew he wanted to hurt me. I called my stepdad who came and socked him in the face-- never saw him again. Nothing *inherently* wrong with an age gap. But in general, what older men want wifh younger women is CONTROL. Ladies, theyre relying on your naivety.
@MsSonali1980
@MsSonali1980 Ай бұрын
I think the jealousy thing is, they can't understand how other people feel, so they project their own thoughts onto others. It's worse if they feel insecure, they hate that feeling and the there comes the paranoid thinking spiral. That's the reason they come off so happy in the beginning. They (yet) haven't found anything they can hang up themselves on and they don't feel any connection to a new person (depends maybe, if someone is the stalker type). Instable personality type, depending on how others perceive them (even if that perception is only made up in their own head). The irony, that we need to be able to detect this, whilst they go their lifes totally ignorant/unaware what actually is wrong with themselves.

I think categorizing age gaps as a red flag is just about right. A red flag means - slow way down, take a huge step back, reflect on things, and proceed with caution. Same as if you found out your partner cheated in a previous relationship, or that they served prison time, or that they are an alcoholic. Things that may be overcome, and yes, people can change, but that requires a lot of work and introspection on both sides. Yes, sometimes big age gap relationships work out, but 9 times out of 10, the older person is intentionally dating much younger people because they are easier to manipulate and control. That's a big enough margin that it's worth labeling as a red flag. Approach with caution.

I'm a strong proponent of domestic abuse education on a continual basis throughout middle and high school. I have worked in education as well as have known many people that just would not leave or stay away from abusers. Men as well as women, we need to build stronger and less dependent people.

I was in one of these relationships. Married to the man for a year. He was controlling. He was 8 years older. I was 21. He accused me of seeing other people. He was my first. He told me I was lying about that. He was only verbally abusive. Thank God I think he was afraid of my Dad. I also did not know him for long before marriage. Found out I was number 5. After I threw him out. He stalked me for months. Also he moved in with a new woman right after me. I am sure he was the one sleeping around. He finally left with the new woman. It was over. I was still afraid for years snd years and had bad dreams. I married again at 23. Great man. Been married for 36 years. If they are violent before you get married. RUN!!!!! You can’t change them.⭐️ Also don’t let them convince you it’s your fault that they hurt you. It’s not!!!

The thing that disgusts me most about cases like this is that in nearly every single case the husband blames his wife for everything. He accuses her of cheating on him, while he is invariably the one cheating on her. Nearly every single domestic violence case I've seen follows this exact same pattern. I will say this: As a single female adult, having watched so many cases like this, it's made me keenly aware of these signs of potentially abusive men. Knowing these signs, knowing what to watch out for, I hope that I can avoid falling victim to this type of situation, myself. (I'm not going to claim that it'd be impossible for me to fall victim to domestic violence, because I've also seen how manipulative these men can be, pretty well brainwashing their wives so it's nearly impossible for them to escape.) PS: I'm very aware that women can be the abusers as well, but we see these situations in reverse less often, and I don't actually know if these same signs are as common with women abusers.

You’re completely right. Let’s be real. I’m actually very suspicious of people who answer stories of men abusing women with “ women do it too, women are just as bad”. They sound an awful lot like the guy in the video. Of course, if a man is being beaten up by a woman, he should get out. Statistically it is less common and statistically it is massively less common for a woman to kill her male partner. Massively. There is no evidence implying that a man’s life is in danger when he has just newly left a woman. There is no “just as bad“ about it. So don’t apologise. If any person is being abused, they should leave the person who is abusing them. But, men do not live in fear that the next woman they fall in love with is going to beat them to a pulp and kill them.

He mirrored his actions onto her. I guarantee he believes his own b.s. She mortified his ego by daring to threaten to leave him, and narcissist's just can have that. He can’t STAND being confronted in a corner with undeniable evidence of what he did. He got hit in the groin when she was trying to fight him off. It’s eerie to consider his description of the event is likely what he did, not her. Her final moments.

My ex boyfriend tried to murder me after he found out I was trying to leave him for good after an entire relationship of cheating & abuse. This is classic behavior. “I didn’t think anyone could push me to do that” I rolled my eyes so hard they almost fell out. They have to make themselves seem like the victim in every situation. She didn’t deserve to die. Rest in peace Emily

Beautiful soul? Idk… maybe. Honestly though, she seems reckless af, ignoring the biggest red flags in existence. and you can’t blame it all on naivety because we have all been 22 at one point in time but vast majority of us haven’t put ourselves in situations even remotely as bad as this.

@stancexpunks The human brain isn't fully developed until around 25. Reckless decision-making is one of the traits surrounding this. It's why there is such debate about what the legal drinking age should be. Why they tend to drive more recklessly, party harder etc. Young adults can't fully understand consequences for their actions.
@emloughh5

@@stancexpunks Victim blaming... nice. We all make stupid decisions especially before our prefrontal cortex is even fully developed. It can be very easy for someone to charm a much younger person, someone who is vulnerable and naive. Not to mention she was very obviously abused physically, emotionally, and mentally which I am sure made it that much harder for her to leave.

As always, Mike this is a great video. I'm so sorry for this young woman. Frankly, I don't know what she saw in him to begin with; he has nothing to offer. My heart really goes out to her parents, and I'm sure they'll forever regret not sternly intervening to stop this dating, much less marriage. Does he really think placing blame on her is going to earn him any brownie points before the judge? He's just not overly smart.
