If something needs done I do not know, I call and leave a voicemail or I send her a text. She replies when she can and instructs my how to proceed. I do the same for her and the crew when I am gone. @cheerio38473 жыл бұрын
Being occasionally available outside of work hours is one of the reasons management receives those nice salaries. It's part of the job, and a switch from an hourly pay mindset. Most companies expect to be able to contact managers while they are out of the office for emergencies... not usually an issue unless it's abused. They also tend to look the other way, if after a period needing extra long hours, you take an unreported half day or leave early a few times or come in late. Again, as long as not abused. But salaried management is expected to be working more than 9 to 5 and not be anal about 40 hours a week.

Her reaction to OP getting food for his mom to enjoy doubles that asshole score. Add in making mom eat outside and then trying to splash her and flip the floaty and the wife sounds unhinged. Edit: so I was waffling on ESH and NTA and the comments made some good points. ESH. OP acts like he doesn't have any power in the situation besides telling people off for cussing. He couod be doing sovmuch more. Edit 2: I LOVE gravy... like really love it. I love it to the point that M y best friend called me Gravy for a while growing up. And yet the thought of eating Gravy on try meal just 🤢🤮

1: So his wife was humiliated by her being a bratty child refusing to not cover a single piece of meat, and he says that's his fault? How about stop letting the wife mistreat his family. The fact he defends his wife from being contradicted, but "hey family, you should just come to watch the wife eat what she likes while you can't eat." Wife wants to hear she was great for being abusive to his family. She has created the reasons the family dislikes her, and they sound justified. 2: Everyone should know 100% of every possible crisis over a week before it could happen. If OP is the manager, then as the boss it was on OP to make sure they have access to the client info. It was OP's client that OP did not make sure they would be able to be properly taken care of. OP didn't even reach out to clients to let them know OP would be out of contact so if they have issues, it's going to be impossible for the coworkers to access their info. OP didn't care about the clients. OP is responsible for the client yet wants to blame a coworker for not knowing what the client needs or when. OP is an example of those who don't work get promoted to management. 3: Grandma is the reasonable one here. Old-fashioned, uncommon name is going to be an issue for the kid. At no point did blowing up do anything but make it worse. Dad is concerned with OP being trustworthy and doing what was promised and honoring the sister. Mom doesn't want to resent a baby with that name or have it as a constant reminder that the sister is gone. Hubby is right about needing a say. She agreed to the junior, so she had a say in his name. She seems to think no one is allowed to have feelings about the name so wrapped up in family trauma. It impacts them and the feelings they will have regarding the kid.

Hey mark, once again, thanks for the video! Your videos have actually been helping me today; I have a dentist appointment and have anxiety (I hate tools in my mouth :( ) and your videos have really helped calm my anxiety, so thank you again :)

Why is it that every time a mans SO toxic the man is some how at fault? is the wife in the first story an adult is she not in control of her actions he has tried to keep the peace and be accommodating but nobody is trying to meet him in the middle if this was women you would know everyone would be telling her to run. Story one is NTA

"It should be a fun activity" Naming a child is stressful. Idc what anyone says. They are living with that name forever (unless you suck and they have to change it) and to me, it was a lot of pressure lol.

I named both my son's, living and passed. And I gave them the same initials (not intentionally tho lol) and their dad only agreed that he didn't want them to be a Jr which I wholeheartedly agreed with

Story 1: If the wife needs to cook EVERYTHING with gravy or barbecue sauce, then chances are she's actually a bad cook using the sauce to mask the actual taste of the food, but in reality it makes things worse. As far as I'm concerned, gravy is supposed to be in a separate bowl for everyone to add to their plates as needed. It's about time for OP to take control of the kitchen or make his wife take cooking lessons because she's being a horrible host.

There's a common comment on Reddit that you should never share or discuss the name for a baby with ANYONE except your spouse. It's not a f*ng committee decision. I totally agree. I had enough problems with a puppy name with just my live-in mom involved.

If you are on Vacation, FMLA, Maternity leave etc. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING.... The company has a melt down oh well.... I am pretty sure OP has a boss that COULD cover it... OP did notify all of them...

OP is the AH since they are management. You took the paycheck that means you take all the responsibilities that goes with the job. I’ve worked with managers like OP and they too loved to pass the buck when things hit the fan because they refuse to answer calls then blame everyone else. If OP had been more organized and prepared the information would’ve been there and the client too.

I would need more of a history of the wife and MIL story. It sounds like they are both childish. The MIL makes snide remarks towards DIL. DIL cooks whatever she wants in her house. So ESH

*Being serenade by Mark, great way to spend my lunchtime.* Story 1: ESH. Wife is being ridiculous, OP knows how stupid his wife is but continues to ask his family over & expose them. Mom knows she doesn't like to eat her food, stop coming for dinner. Story 2: ESH. OP was in charge of those clients & while yes in a perfect world those taking over would have come & got everything, but as the person in charge it's on OP to make sure everyone had everything they'd need to take care of the clients while OP was gone. The other people involved are AH's for not making sure they had everything they needed & dropping the ball. OP is not an AH for not answering texts & phone calls during vacation. Story 3: NAH. It sounds like there is a lot of baggage surrounding the deceased sister's name from everyone & no one is an AH for feeling how they feel about it. It's a tough situation all around & I don't think OP is an AH for being fed up & leaving because in the end it's her child & she was supposed to get to name the child since hubby got to name the son, so hubby needs to back off; he's wobbling into AH territory. Why not have a different first name & use the shortened form the sister went by as a middle name? Pudding should now be the nickname, though.

Story 3: So this man would shun his own child just because she had a name similar to someone he had a negative experience with? That's disgustingly small-minded of him to hold petty vengeance in higher esteem than the traditions of the family he married into. Edit: The 3 year old sounds adorable.

Story 3: NTA; I empathize and can put myself in the family's shoes with their feelings during grief. It's a delicate situation. That being said, the family can kick rocks. It's your child, you shouldn't be going through this stress during your pregnancy and even if he normally would have an equal say, your husband got his choice it's your turn now. You are carrying this child and the buck stops with you. I don't want to sound cruel toward OPs family, I again empathize and it could be my own biases with how I felt during my first pregnancy. But OP should be tuning them out at this point. Seek a professional for help in grieving and validating everyone's feelings, but name your child what you want. Happy wishes and good vibes.

First story in my family we all try and accommodate what people like to eat and what they don’t like it’s not that hard to do feel like OPs wife just does it on purpose but OPs mom handle it like a boss by eating her food on a float that’s pretty great

Story 1: OP's wife went soooo far out of her way to take things over the top here. And you're "not allowed" to cook? That's even more utter bullshit! You don't need any sort of special permission from anyone to feed yourself. And it's ridiculous of your wife to think otherwise.
