I had a heart attack 5 days ago. So, aim for low-glycemic-index starches, high-HDL & low-LDL cholesterol, keep exercising, and wean off of salt. I was actually meaning to do all of that years ago. I already have been low salt since childhood. But I've been bad about eating too many treats, and not being good about my fat intake or my weight.

It's a shame you only have Hershey's syrup where you are. A banana split without Fox's U-bet chocolate syrup just isn't the same. Once you have it, you can't go back to Hershey's again! Also, watch out on the maraschino cherries! My husband and I were going to use them in fruit cake this past Christmas and he happened to read on the label "Not for human consumption". I rolled my eyes and told him why would they be in the grocery store with other food if that were actually true? He handed me the jar and I read it myself -- "not for human consumption"! Turns out, the US govt considers them to be "decoration only" and therefore some brands use red dye #40 which contains a carcinogen called benzidene! Others have red dye #5 which isn't cancerous but still widely considered safe only in very small quantities. Crazy, right!?
