The Twa Grannies with Maggie Douglas and Liz Crawford all the way from Dundee in Scotland have another song for us: "Hush Hush", a lullaby written by Jim McLean. It tells the story of the Highland Clearances when, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, England decided to evict the small landowners from the Scottish Highlands in order to make way for large-scale sheep farming. A very sad part of Scottish history, and the tune matches the mood of the song. The tune of this song comes from a slow air, also known as “The Mist Covered Mountains of Home.” (This air is from an older song in Scots Gaelic “Chi Mi Na Morbheanna” - I will see the great mountains).
Thank you again, Liz and Maggie, for stopping by on your journeys and wanderings to bring home this beautiful music! And to all listeners: Enjoy!

Here on Gypsy Wagon TV in the hills of Donegal we are proud to be able to promote wonderful musicians, showcase talents, give them a stage on this tiny platform.
Often musicians look for these special venues, a niche platform really and this is what this tiny Vardo offers. It has a beautiful natural acoustic and all the music or showcase recordings are done low tech with no need for mics and amplifiers. This creates a natural sound and even if we record outside the wagon the acoustic carries strong and blends in with the natural surroundings of a woodland. This is what makes these recordings unique.
So if you as a folk or trad musician (not just Irish traditional music, which surrounds us here, but also world music, Bluegrass, you name it) and are looking for a small, but special venue, please feel free to contact us! You find Gypsy Wagon TV also on Facebook and Twitter.
It is a joy for us to connect with all these very different musicians with different backgrounds.
