I think maybe Nicole was the ghost of someone killed in the library (maybe before it was even a library) and she’s stuck there having to live over her murder night after night and knows what’s coming and that’s why she’s protecting Amanda maybe?

I was shocked enough to know that Nicole is none other than a ghostly entity, but she's helpful and protective. I guess the guy at the start was the main culprit. Maybe he set up the plot for Nicole's death or rather murder by someone who was shown at a glance in the red light so Nicole hates him. Maybe, Amanda was also plotted to be murderer in the same way which Nicole predicted rightly and tried to protect her thus. But it's not so understanding fully.

I like the conflict here. Nicole seems at once complicit and regretful. She seems protective of Amanda at the end, although it is also evident that there is nothing she can do. It leaves a lot for the viewer to decide for himself. Very good.

Spoiler.. . . . . . . I think Nicole is trapped in a loop reliving the night she was killed. Only now there’s a new girl, Amanda, working. Nicole knows what will happen to Amanda tonight. History repeats itself. Most likely Al is the culprit and locked Amanda in.

I don't think it was an ending. More like a short story that could be anything. They used to make cliffhangers back in the day of course, the following week you would watch the end to the cliffhanger. I feel it's clever.
