Plastic razor blades are available, which are intended to be used for removing stickers/decals from delicate surfaces without damage. They might not have been up to the job of removing that gasket material though, which looked quite tough!

Interesting. I don't think I knew about plastic razor blades - but you are correct; there is no way plastic tools were making a dent in that gasket! Thanks for the comment.

I use a thin, non serrated butter knife quite often in the garage for jobs like this.
