My Husky did the same. When he was adult, we bought him a corner table and placed a dog bed under it. Its in a corner of the room from where he can observe the entire place. He loves his little cave.

I got 4 inch risers on my bed for Merci. That's her hiding place for storms and loud noises, like firecrackers. And recently, when I light the fireplace. I'm 58 and now need a step stool to get into my high bed...but she is worth it!
