Hopefully everyone will check this description area before engaging the "yah see" , "what ifs", "I told you so" and general shudda , wodda, cuddas".....
1) In all reality, I am just a man.
2) A bunch of weights per cord of many different species were stated initially to get an idea of relative densities of some common firewood choices.
3) I measured this log: 12"
4) It's easy to see the wood has varying densities with the way the chain is grabbing differently as it is going, unaided, through the cut.
5) I miss quoted the 3rd run top rpms at 14,940 - really only 14,900. In the glare, it is hard to see the numbers on the tach readout at times.
6) And of course this saw is modified, but tweaked a little differently from the last run and the previous 346/550 shoot out video.
7) VARY rarely do stockers get a run and that is definitely mentioned if that the case.
8) Upon tearing this saw down, I found that the seizure was light and not from a lean condition. There is a slight casting flaw off to one side in the exhaust port. I suspect with the heat from the high rpms the expansion is different in the bore since the partial seize is opposite the casting flaw.
9) A new Meteor piston is currently on order.
10) This is the second rendition porting wise in this 346xp.
I am currently available for port work. If you are interested, please shoot me an email.

Every so often I come back and watch this video and giggle and laugh at that little screamer. I love it. I’ve got a heavily used 346XP I got from a chainsaw carver. Well, if it ever pops I’m going to send it your way for a little hop up.

If it was a lean seize it probably wouldn't have started again so soon or so easy. And even if it was, R&D testing is frequently destructive and part of learning. To all the haters in the comments and on forums bashing HOTSAWS101, get it over it and grow up, you guys should try acting with even half the integrity I see on this channel.

For certain a lean seize. And it was apparent to anyone that knows how to tune a saw it was way lean before it even touched wood.

WeberBuilt Weber hi. It would depend on the state of tune and rpm range that the machine is working at - which is a load consideration. The insane-o SS saws are right at the limit between the off highway and switching to the roadrace version. I "wood" run the road race in the psycho and above saws personally due to where they operate in the rpm range while working. Thanks for watching and blessing for this day.

I'm on my 5th saw from Mr B. 372XPW (75cc) 385XP 2x 562 XP/XPG and "375"XP. It's not a cheap exercise with the postage and tax/import duties so it would have to be a top class product to make it worth my time and very hard earned cash ! Most of what I cut is what we call "oversize" timber here, so to big for a 1470 JD or 951 Komatsu harvesters and to keep in front of them you need a couple of things and just one is a quick reliable saw and thats why I spend what I consider well spent cash with Mr B. If this sounds like an advert for his work then I suppose it is but thats what a customer that is happy with his purchase does ? There are many saw builders that build a fast saw and faster than some of Jack's but I tend to think that there are "fast" saws and "quick" saws. A fast saw is just that it's fast and will beat anything in a yard at a GTG it's well built but at work you ( I ! ) want a Quick saw so when you are clinging to a steep bank with the 2000lb harvester head above you pulling a big dirty Spruce in from a road side you are not thinking about how to feed the saw in the saw just works !! Jack falls and builds a perfect combination....

Yeppers ... definitely a BIG difference between a “cookie cutter” and a saw that slings a 32” bar as well as a 20” ... I have 2 saws built by JB ; a 241c “mighty mite” and just received a 461R a few weeks back ... I’m happy with the product ! What a lot of guys miss is that on a 2-stoke you tend the get “heat sink” which can reduce the power output by up to 20% .... a lot of Jacks competition make saws for the camera ; quick 3-cuts and shut-down .... Doesn’t really give a valid comparison imho ... if your saw cuts quick for 30 sec and then “heat sinks “ and you lose 20% power than what’s the point of having a ported-saw ? You may as well run a stocker ! I’ve cut many many cords with the 241c and about a dozen with the 461R and I’ve found Jack has the right combo of speed;power and “flow” such that the saw performs well over a days cutting from start to finish ...

I pondered the commentary in this part of the thread for awhile. This saw will barely get above 15k free revving with the high speed needle bottomed out. And yes, it's on film as well. So,,, it's not stupid lean, as some would suggest, anywhere in this video. I find the observations from 1500 +/- miles away interesting, but not accurate. Already mentioned this but again, running the second piston here which is how I know the problem is on the drive side in the exhaust port. The cylinder wall suffered on the drive side from the oem piston failure. The oem piston melt down was most likely from the casting flaw in the exhaust port causing uneven heat expansion in the cylinder wall itself. It was below the surface until the grinding happened. It happened the exact same way as the Meteor piston in this video. R & D. Mr. Speed spells it out. My suggestion is this: When he talks, others would do themselves a big favor to listen. He is way smarter than I. It's too bad some guys just shoot from the hip, with nary a question.

Eric hi. The reader card had some issues and I am going to have to splice two videos together where neither one is complete, which is a bummer. The cylinder was pretty trashed from the 1st and 2nd piston meltdowns so it did not do what I had hoped in the 3rd run. Thanks for watching.

Its seems just a little more bore clearance is all that saw needed.
@hotsaws101
@hotsaws101 6 жыл бұрын
WeberBuilt hi. There was a casting flaw in exhaust port at about 10 looking down. I think it allowed for uneven expansion at the high revs and the bore became elliptical. The first two pistons scored in the same way/spot. By the time I cleaned up the cylinder twice the tolerance was getting pretty loose. The 3rd piston scored the same as the 1st two + more across the front. I actually had shut the high speed needle down completely at one point just to see the outcome. It would barely run - what you would expect when not getting enough fuel. The third melt down looked more like an unloaded over reving issue. Thank for watching.

You may want to add a little more oil in fuel for extreme rpm. In some research I did a while back, rpm goes hand in hand with oil ratio.

I am assuming the decription #10 "second rendition" means a 50cc cylinder? You should not wait until the end of the description to mention a key modification and until the end of the video to mentio. "Meteor" aka after market top end. Also, people have to stop with this "346 XP" crap- either put "346 XP OE" or "346 XP NE" and give it a proper identity unlike a noob...

And more oil also drops octane so race gas should be used for extreme rpm and high oil content.
