Stick it in the dirt again, Bob! Anything is better than a Wild Thing.You will outlast it. My saws usually outlast me😳, no matter how many pieces of string cheese I have.

You are correct. The torque on the crank is 35 NM or 25.81 foot pounds - straight from my 372 service manual.

The big saws sure can beat a guy up. The older I get the more I find myself picking up a small saw.

Looks like the ultimate old man saw is going to be battery powered, when the battery is flat it's time to go home for a bevy.

Part of my "what are you going to do when you get old?" plan involves some of the Mcculloch electric start saws from '66 and '67. They have 54cc and 70cc models. the battery packs were mounted to the saw but I'm going to rig a belt pack to take the weight off the saw.

Wow...any pics or video of those?? Are you with in driving distance of Central NY??
@donniefiechtner54377 жыл бұрын
I'm in North Dakota. I have about 15 of them, only about 8 have the onboard battery packs left .on them. I suspect after the ni cads went bad people took them off because of the weight. just search Mcculloch 3-10E, 5-10E, or 10-10E.

Curious, do you ever use anaerobic sealer to help or replace gaskets on chewed up surfaces? It's used to help seals in the transport industry all the time, Permatex makes it, purple jelly. Also, regarding the electric saw, I think they are a beauty innovation that will excel for climbing arbourists. Super safe, quiet, no smoke in your eyes, cna do ti all with one hand, no need to start or let it idle. Soon as you elt it go, it's off and safe.

Yes. The best brand I've used is Three Bond. Even after they changed from 1194 to 1184, that stuff is demonstrably better than the other products. In 15 years of using it I have yet to see it fail in a variety of applications from saw cylinders to motorcycle side cases. Even plumbing sealing up a leaky circulator housing to run until I found a suitable replacement.(I wouldn't say it's designed for H2O! but it worked when I asked it to)

Hi Walter, just curious if you can help me out with a project I'm doing? I bought a 2260 with a bad piston and useable cylinder. I'd like to update this saw with new crankshaft, bearings,seals and top end. As well as upgrade to the newest ignition and carburetor. I have the top end already but was hoping for some information on part numbers for the rest. Local Husqvarna dealer has been no help. I'd like to go all new on this saw and use all the salvageable parts on my heavily used 2258 and pugrade it to 2260.

Short blocks for the 560 are available from a dealer who knows how to look things up. I bought one thru my local dealer. Difference between the 555 and 560 is the crank. Have to say even a 555 built right works. I did one with the 562 caps on the transfers, the difference between it and a 562 was minimal. I'm not sure I would bust one apart and change out bearings and seals with the pricing Short blocks were when I was building mine

@@afleetcommand I'm trying to build a nice 2260 because finding one has become near impossible. This one I bought cheap is in very nice condition paint/plastic/appearance wise. So I don't really want grey cases. I've put together a fairly nice Jonsered collection and this has been a hole in it for quite some time. I mourn the loss of the Jonsered brand and would like to preserve it as much as possible.

When I can't start a saw anymore I'm going to take that as life telling my days of running a saw are over.

I'm a husky and jred guy but if I can't pull a saw anymore I'd rather buy a stihl 251 easy start over that battery saw
