Henry, glad you figured out the choke/run thing. The excess oil in the bottom of the intake tube is normal. Those carbs are pretty hardy and do not usually need any maintenance. A T27 will take that whole unit apart. Being that the owner uses that unit very often he should consider "re-ringing" it for longevity, as well as replacing the base gasket. Those engines are also known to have the cylinder head screws to back out and cause sealing issues. When you replace that ignition coil be careful because there are 2 small black spacers that need to be re-installed correctly. Good luck and love the content.

Husqvarna are pretty good , the older stuff the old Craftsmans were really made by Husqvarna (Poulan) before the were known on Pull-on (play on words for Poulan)

Bro do you have an inline spark checker, if so, attach it, and watch the light to see if it goes out, then pull the rope, and see if it has spark.

Of course I do, but it never had an issue with spark. It always had spark.

@MowersNBlowers head gasket....coil.....spark arrester screen.... Question.... Does the coil have a diode inside the spark plug boot like a Kohler 6.5hp engine does?
@knighthawk8685513 күн бұрын
@MowersNBlowers a new coil would fix that diode problem..... Just a thought.

Just asking, dude, have you confirmed no spark with the unit dying out and not starting, not sparking? It could be a poor fuel tank vent in the cap. If the machine runs well for 1 minute. Loosen/remove the gas cap every 30 seconds seconds and see. A thought.

@@MowersNBlowers I trust your judgement and experience on this 100% 🤩 I was just trying to see what the range of possible explanations for this behavior could be... The fuel vacuum was one explanation that fit the symptoms. In my (limited) experience when it's a coil failing, the spark plugs tend to look fouled or over-rich from not always firing. Your spark plug looks like it was running lean, or hot. Confusing to say the least. That being said, the engine restarting so soon after the coil overheating could be attributed to the relatively smaller size of a 2-stroke vs a lawn tractor's 4-stroke cooling off much quicker. 🤔 Either way, I enjoy your content immensely. 👍

@jameslane7922 thank you for that! Stay tuned to the next episode. It wasn’t the coil.

I don't know. A carb cleaning wouldn't be out of line. Maybe a fuel issue. Even a remote possibility of a bad fuel mix.
