Cool bike, awesome video, so Ktm has fix that oil consumption "problem" in this engine... I had that "last Italian" Husky, i mean 2010 sm510r, that is to me best Husqvarna ever

you forgot to mention one important feature that i think only husqvarna cared to make for other possible customers, which it can come with an A2 license friendly map. that's a smart move because you can attract much more potential customers and i believe it's still a fun bike to ride, once the individual gets his or her full license can then use the full power of the bike.

Great review, but now I'm more confused than ever...should I buy the enduro version or the supermoto??? I know it depends on the use, but I can't decide!!

I have the same problem..

Eventually I bought the enduro (just got it, last Friday!) because I believe it's the best trade-off. There are too many limitations off road with the supermoto, while the enduro rides very well in the street. It does vibrate as you ride above 70 km/h, but I believe the supermoto vibrates too. It's a great bike, but I won't use it on the highway for long distances.

Great video! I have a question: why would somebody buy this instead of a SMC 690, except the color and the name? Is the price the same? But the real question is: why would KTM (as a company) have two bikes so similar? Not that I'm going to buy them, after what they did in Varese (and with the Husaberg as well) I'm not considering a KTM for sure. Me, I'm going to buy a SWM 650, same old Husqy 630!

@ 5:40: that's great news!! I ideally, i would love to own a Beta 500 rs, but it's maintenance intervals are *every 30 hours* as opposed to every 10000 or so km. Way too much maintenance for me to own.

Does anyone know if the Husqvarnas are a reliable brand? What's the good and the bad about the bikes (and the company)?
@RsEramies9 жыл бұрын
+You Toober As the guy said, its basically a KTM. So go read about the Ktm 690, thats the exact same bike. But all in all. Yes its relieable, nothing bad to say except that its heavy.
@You-Toober9 жыл бұрын
+RsEramies i ask because of things i've read/heard about the 690 enduros: stalling for no reason, things falling off the bike (that shouldn't be happening), getting false neutrals, problems with control at low speeds, etc,. I know no one's perfect, but from what i've read/heard about the enduro 690 r, things like that shouldn't be happening with a bike that costs as much as it does. That's why i ask (and also held off from buying it).

Hmm, a white and yellow 690 SMC/Enduro-R. 67hp Booo! Still waiting for someone to make something truly awesome
@You-Toober9 жыл бұрын
+surg23 67 hp may not be over-whelming to you...but keep in mind the bike's light weight and it's a single cylinder. The ktm 690 enduro r (i haven't ridden one), which i hear/read people *rave* about it's performance, has about 65 hp.
@surg239 жыл бұрын
You Toober I do take such things into consideration when I make statements like that. Both bikes are rated at 67hp. They are almost carbon copies of each other. The only real tangible difference being the color. My 500 exc has 60hp and weighs 35kg less. If you do the math, the 500 has better power/weight than both of these bikes, And it's an enduro bike. I expected to see single's evolve in performance over the last 30 years, but the horsepower ratings continue to stagnate. What we see here in these bikes is nothing revolutionary in terms of performance, conversely, I find them disappointing. If the 701 was released with 90+hp I would go out and buy one the next day. 67hp on a 155kg bike is lax in my opinion. I could easily use another 30-40hp on my 500.
@RsEramies9 жыл бұрын
+surg23 Well first of all, no your EXC doesnt have 60hp. But yes, the 701/690 needs more power or less weight. Ultimately, it comes down to reliability. They want to make a bike with 10k kilometer service intervals, so they need to cut the compression or make the engine stronger (=add weight). Id be happy to ditch the service intervals if they saved 10kg on the engine and added 10hp. After all im happy at the moment with changing oils every 500km.
@surg239 жыл бұрын
+RsEramies Well I must have been dreaming when I took it to get Dyno tested, And the video of said dyno must be a figment of that dream. The more important thing to take away from that is: KTM 690 = 387bhp/tonne 500 exc = 462bhp/tonne To put things into perspective. The 690 engine is rated at 50rwhp = 66hp at engine *not at the wheel*.
@RsEramies9 жыл бұрын
+surg23 You know... dynos are all different. Results may vary a lot. Ive seen results in the range of mid 40's to mid 50's for stock EXC500's. One individual dyno should not be referred to for measuring the power. One thing that is for sure, EXC500's don't make 58hp on the crank stock, thats a few too many. Now you're going to say "but it has the akrapovic silencer". Well as you saw it doesn't do anything without the header, you got peak hp with the baffle on.
@HippoPlays9 жыл бұрын
basically the only difference is the aesthetics..... Surely KTM could have just offered a colour option rather than pretending it is a Husky. Loved the old Huskies, this is just shite
