Husqvarna FE 350 Episode 2 | KNOX
A few months ago, we introduced our new Husqvarna FE 350. • Introducing new Knox E...
Now with several months of riding experience, hard enduro, enduro, trail riding and an epic Isle of Man Enduro trip, the Husky 350 has been thoroughly put through its paces. In this video, we head to the UK's latest Enduro Centre, Gilgarren Enduro Centre, to share our thoughts.
With a powerful and torque laden 350 4 stroke motor, enduro specific suspension and the expertise from the KTM group, our Husqvarna FE350 was always going to be awesome. But like all bikes, it isn't perfect and we also share some areas where we think it could be improved.

Not only a great overview of riding the bike, but also an honest look at riding to include difficulties and mistakes. Well done!

Great review! Some points that might help you resolve the issues for free (apart from buying new spokes): 1. Spokes on the Austrian bikes need to be checked and tensioned a lot when new, then they seem to hold tension. Every ride for the first few rides. Not excusing it, just noting it’s an issue and there’s a way around it. I had a front wheel nearly fall apart and was breaking rear spokes frequently before I figured it out. A spoke torque wrench kinda-helps but the manual only says to tension via sound. Don’t start a ride without checking and correcting any loose spokes. Rim lock area is usually where they loosen first. 2. Brake pedal is small. The best solution is to develop better foot placement with toes pointed inward, and on balls of feet unless actually using brake. It takes time and effort but will keep feet and legs safer (basically can’t get knocked off and knee/ankle are protected from twisting) and the small pedal issue disappears. 3. I see your fingers are contacting the clutch lever on the far right side - with the worst leverage. Slide levers inward on the bar, until the bar starts to bend: this will have your finger further out on the lever, improving leverage and making it easier. Whether it’s enough is personal but it is worth trying before buying new levers or master cylinders. You’ll likely want to adjust the levers closer to the bar to maintain ‘finger reach distance’.

I have a 21’ Husqvarna fe350s and I put an adjustable shorty clutch lever because the stock clutch jams into my other fingers and I adjusted it which makes a lighter and shorter throw that’s closer to the friction zone and it really helps when feathering. I’m not a fan of stock levers especially the clutch lever because they’re just too long for how I use the lever and if I’m going to keep it stock I usually cut it back so it doesn’t interfere with my ring finger when using 2 finger.

I am not an off road rider but was captivated by this video. Fantastic production and a rider who engages the viewer with honesty and not trying to prove himself all the time. Very refreshing. Subscribed.

What a fantastic track that looks like! My thoughts about the 350 is exactly the same, tackle something, look back at it and think «how the heck did I do that?» Excellent video.

I noticed that the engine is similar in design to the Honda 300l ( Both DOHC). Thats why I am considering this over the Honda. I don’t mind wrenching, so as long as nothing beyond a top end rebuild every 5 years, I am good. Changing the oil and filters is no big deal. I don’t know why people get so bent out of shape over that. Thank you very much for your opinion.

Aaron, I have not had any spoke issues with my FE450, which I ride in Baja California, Mojave Desert, the Great Basin and surrounding Mountains, USA. I have tubeless set up with one set of wheels w/ MotoZ Desert HT tires for rocky desert work and another set of wheels w/ Motoz Mountain Hybrids for soft forest work. Consider switching to an Oberon clutch master cylinder, which is much softer than stock or a Rekluse clutch. It will make the technical rides much more enjoyable.
@KnoxArmour
@KnoxArmour Жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard. Running Michelin Mousses on this bike which should in theory soften things up. Rekluse isnt a bad idea. Thanks, Aaron KNOX

Hi Richard, about that clutch, are you just talking bout the cilinder and not the clutch plates themselves? Those Oberon clutch slave master cilinders go for 120,- Would that do the trick smooting up that clutch? All the best, and great vid Aaron.
@richardsieben815
@richardsieben815 Жыл бұрын
My comment does say Oberon Master cylinder, but should have said "slave" Cylinder, the reservoir or Master Cylinder would make little difference in feel. The reason I had to replace the factory slave cylinder was the bike had the incorrect fluid installed when new and it caused all the seals to dissolve. I am going to need a clutch soon and going with a Rekluse. I'm 65 years old, riding off road since age 14, time to try something new.

Do you really like your 450 for the desert riding? Im thinking of that same bike for down in AZ and baja, but the 350 has been on my list also.

You raved about the GasGas ec350F when you reviewed that, how do they compare? The GasGas seems such good value compared. Great real world riding - well done.
@KnoxArmour
@KnoxArmour Жыл бұрын
Very similar, engine identical really. I remember the gasgas being a bit softer suspension wise, but other than a few higher spec components, the gasgas and husky are incredibly similar. Thanks Aaron Knox

The rear wheel problem should be sorted by Husky- it's not as if they are using new technology.

Probably... but the nearest dealer is a 200 mile round trip and I guess things breaking on this sort of bike is par for the course. Thanks, Aaron KNOX

Knee braces instead of knee guards. Your ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL will thank you for them.
Should I move to the Dark Side??? 350 4 Stroke.. THE BEST?
