100% I have the new 2024 yz 250x and a 2023wr I ride both but the Wr has better power delivery, the stalling is the same on the Wr I turned the idle up about 200 rpm’s it’s really not much at all but it helps a heavier flywheel would help also with the WR 250 not the 450 it’s so light nimble for a four stroke and with the adjustable maps in the Wi-Fi GTR tuner app the things you can do with that engine is amazing

Been on FE350 since 2017. Switched to a 300 for about a year then went back to a 350. It is better suited for the riding I do and feel it really is the Swiss Army knife of bikes. Super efficient so I can get long desert rides in and versatile enough to handle super technical terrain. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of my 350. Great content and keep on brapping!

Just moved from a FE350 to 300EXC. I like different things about them and both have benefits. The 300 is 6 years newer so might not be a fair comparison. What I like about the 300 is that it does not stall almost ever, it feels lighter, the suspension is way better (but it would be way better on a brand new 350 aswell). What I like more about the 350 is how it feels more snappy off the idle and how much longer the gears are with the higher redline. Crossing logs was easier on the 350, twisty singletrack between trees is less tireing on the 300.

Its an ideal size. I moved form the 2 stroke to a 300 4 stroke for riding high mountain trails in the PNW and am loving it. So many great bikes these days.

Rich, as a 2T purist I say nooooooooooo..but as a realist I say “what suits your riding style and where do you ride most”.. Even though I religiously follow all your riding tips I’m a crappy rider ( plus I’m 65 😂😂😂) I’ve found 2T a bit more forgiving on the lug.. Stark had an open day at my local track ( south of Sydney, Australia) , they are an awesome bike and will definitely feature in enduro/ MX in the future.. Yes 4T and electric are good but it’s the addictive 2T smell wins it for me as it takes me back to when I was a kid riding in the bush..😁👍

Where I live (CT), if you don’t ride a 300 people come talk to you and tell you that you need a 300. I ride a TE 125 and I love it. It turns beautifully and you can put it wherever you want. You must keep momentum and be in the right gear though, which is part of the fun. It’s kind of like a different sport really, a bit closer to downhill MTB. I would love to get a 350. I guess people would come talk to me and let me know that I need a 300 though 😅

Awesome video! I just switched from a YZ250X to a Sherco 450 SEF and absolutely love everything about it. Feels heavier in the slow stuff for sure, but that’ll just force me to be a better rider. The torque and smooth power is insanely fun though. It’ll pull from down low no problem, and with the low first gear, it’s an absolute tractor-just gas it and hang on! I’m going to have my work cut out for me on collecting the power now though. Been watching a lot of the content on that, we’ll see how it goes.

Rich, I may get blasted for this thought, but if you (or anyone else) were going 4-stroke, what if you did a 500 with different maps? Then you would have more to work with as you needed it? I know the 350 has more than enough to do the job, but just wanted to get you thoughts on why a 500, mapped correctly, would be "worse". Thanks brother for all you do. You've changed my dirt biking life with your videos!

Oh damn you were right around the corner from us in Fredericksburg!! As someone who has both a FE 350 and 501, the 350s are wonderfully snappy, but the stock tune, at least on the 21s, is just flameout central. Goofy lean. Take care of that and they're a blast. The 501 by comparison is just a chug monster. Kinda reminds me of the T7s power delivery. Just smooth chunky power that will send you to the moon if you want it. 24 for the record. I haven't had a chance to try any of the 24 350s. Wouldn't shock me if they really really fixed the bottom end. Earlier models guys have switched the ECU and rocked on, zero issues. Your notes about needing clutchwork to smooth things out on a 350 is 100% my own experience, even as a relative novice. Ditto on Braketec parts as well. Thinking retrofit to Bremmies when the time comes on my 24. Oh....and yes....THE HEAT....MY GOD.... My ECUd 350 isnt too bad, but good lord I need to do my 501. The stock 24 tune is just ball melting hot lol. Keep on ripping dude! Love the content. You should come ride at WATR sometime with us.

I bought as my first moto ktm 450 excf 2022. In 2024 i bought ktm exc 300 tbi and i love both of them. 2 stroke is only better for technical riding at the mountains ( on 2 stroke I am less tired than on 4 stroke)

I have a FE 350, added a 366 kit, SXF valves and cams, twisted development ECU, gave it more power in a good way everywhere and will move out on top end when you want it to, bike will lug pretty well for a 4 stroke, only issue is they can get grumpy when restarting in technical stuff, also have a 300 XC-W so yes you need one of each!

The mention of the heat on a 350 compared to a 2 stroke is so true. I ride a 150xc mostly and sometimes ill ride my parents 350excf. If i go slow on a trail you can feel the heat soak through the plastics and tanks and it hits you. It kinda tells you the bike might boil in a few minutes if you didnt have fan

Rich, you're becoming more and more like me. I use a 2022 KTM 350 excf for enduro and motorcross... but mine has 13/52 sprockets. And I don't have any "maps" on my KTM.

I was also surprised when I got mine FE350 husky, it felt way lighter then my Sherco 2 stroke 300... It needed to be rev a bit more and it stalls easier but when I put 12t in front I could do everything as on 2 stroke. Anyway 350 is my favorite bike now, BTW in Super Enduro they use 250 exclusively for a reason.

I have a 2018 350 husqy and 2024 300 ktm (fairly fresh, onyl 2 rides on it). Both have their ups and downs. The 300 feels a lot lighter but feels a lot less snappy off idle. Have run 13-15T on the front and 13T was pretty good for slow technical stuff. My experience abouth the weight is that the 300 feels noticeably lighter in twisty stuff and is easier to ride.

i switched to a 450, love the power but it will not lug at all... maybe with a 12/52 gear set up... currently 12/51 and its faster in first than a 24 300xc stock. its also stiff for XC style racing so i'll try it out in tech trails next week when i get new springs to soften her up

you are right, the 4 strokes are for most riders what they need, the hype for the 2 stroke is overrated. Also, the 350 has much smoother torque which is way easier in the wet and roots.

Hey Rich, if you're serious about giving the 4T stuff a shot in the gnarly stuff, ive got a 250xc-f thats in Colorado. Give it a shot sometime, ill even drop it off trail head for ya. I think a lot of mediocre riders (myself included) work less and go faster comfortably on a 4stroke for variety riding. Totally underrated, im 6'5" and 200lbs and couldnt ask for more bike

As a proud owner of a 350 F enduro and a 300 2t (and a 125 MX and a trials bike 😎), I can say that the 350 is the best all around dirt bike. It does it all very well. That said, and despite its amazing “tractorability”, I don’t think that for the average rider, the 350 would be the best choice if such rider only does slow technical hard enduro. The 350 requires more throttle and clutch play to avoid stalling and is more fatiguing due to its engine characteristics. Nonetheless, I doubt that anyone would be disappointed if they owned such a bike :)

I swap bikes with my buddies on rides. I strongly believe that the 350 from KTM-family are the best 4 strokes. I owned a 250XCF, and the extra 100cc is great. But for the technical riding that I do, nothing beats a 300cc Europrincess.

Try a ktm 500 xcf-w 2020-2022 model years. I spent some time on that ktm 500, playing on it like it was a trials bike. I instantly felt one with the bike. I ride a 260 four stroke Montesa 4rt.

@@gpaull2 Looks like you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about -))))) 1) Honda is almost the only brand to specify the exact wet weight with no bs, unlike other brands. 2) Honda with all the liquids and full tank weighs 108kg. Ktm 300 tbi weighs 104.6 kg with no fuel (according to their spec which might be bs btw), so it would weight minimum 112kg with full tank.

I've been saying this as well. A 350 is probably the best overall bike out there. It's better than a two stroke in all but the gnarliest hard enduro type riding. No question, 300 is the hard enduro king but let's be honest, what most people call "hard enduro" is just trail riding with some techy sections.

I had a 21 Fe 350 with a remapped Ecu and running a 12 tooth sprocket it was very hard to stall. Should never of sold it. Modern 4 strokes are incredible.

Rich am I crazy? I recently swapped my 300xc for a 24 450 XCF-W and I feel like the only person who doesn't think this was a mistake. Techy singles and rocks have been no issue and in cases easier. True hard Enduro terrain is about 20% of my mileage and the bike has handled it all just fine so far. This video makes me feel like I maybe don't need that cat scan my friends insist I need. What do you think?

Thats basically what I tell all the novice riders in my group. If you want a 4 stroke. fe350 is best. The TE300 will do better going slower.

Nice review. Why nobody mentions the stinkiness of the 2strokes? Not to mention how carcinogen the fumes of those are.

Silver Kings last month, 300+ smokers headed out of town up the mountain was a giant cloud. It was cool to see but damn it was thick.

@@IRCTireUSAMoto wow! I absolutely hate the 2Stokes :) i have a montesa and a husq. 350, glad there are good 4strokes around. I hated when waiting at start odlf sections in the queue, and majority were 2strokes, screeaming the hell out of them, to unclog it. Glad there is a choice! All the best Rich!
