Hi, I have literally just arrived home from our local recycling centre, where i pulled what i thought was an old suitcase from the skip. It was heavy. Turns out it's a Husqvarna 19e in it's original case, complete with bobbins, attachments etc. It was still threaded top and bottom, plugged it in and it sews perfectly and is remarkably quiet! What a find, and for free! I'm a guy who loves making things and just getting into sewing. I shall cherish this lovely machine. Thanks for the simple informative video.
@CurioByBSpokeDesigns4 жыл бұрын
What a fantastic find! Have fun with it! Just a word of caution. Check the foot pedal for the old capacitors and if they are there, remove them. They have a habit of blowing, causing the machine to run flat out. They're not needed, they were to suppress interference with old TV sets.
@juleswebb18854 жыл бұрын
@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns Ah okay, thanks for the advice. I have a neighbour who'll be good for capacitor removal! Do you know what's with the oiling holes on the top of the machine? On closer inspection, only one of the plastic inserts seems to have a hole in it!
@shakerson4 жыл бұрын
@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns Can you just pull the capacitors out or do you have to solder in a wire etc. to complete the circuit? I am about to attempt to bring a 19E Special I just acquired back to life and this is good info.
@CurioByBSpokeDesigns4 жыл бұрын
@@shakerson If i remember right, there's several capacitors in the 19e foot pedal. I think it's the largest one you remove - if you look carefully, you can remove that one without breaking any of the circuit so you won't need to replace it with a wire.

Beautiful series made by Husqvarna. I have the 21 version with almost all the accessories and the light turns on, though the machine won’t run. The foot pedal has something loose inside and the belts might need replacement. I can’t even unscrew the bottom screw (tightened way too tight) to look at the electric part to see if the motor is truly gone. It’s impossible for me to locate a pedal replacement right now (that’s if the motor is fine). So happy for the rest of the owners to cherish such beautiful machines.

StarAmyHome yes but only occasional lighter leather. If you want a machine to mainly sew leather or denim I would recommend a specialist industrial machine.
@peteacher52 Жыл бұрын
Light leather -- certainly not shoe or belt weight -- vinyl, parka, denim etc. Very thin, slippery material like silk needs special care because it tends to bunch up at the feed dog. If you wish to sew a great deal of such lightweight material, I suggest you look at a Pfaff on which the presser foot and the feed dog are in sync, sending the material through from top and bottom.

Mine is a little different -- you open a "door" on the back of the machine to insert one of three provided cams for fancy stitches, but since I use it almost entirely for mending duty, that's hardly an issue. It is heavy so doesn't jump around unless you decide to run flat tack and it's way quieter than any other machine I have seen, including the late-80s Huskies, Pfaffs, Elnas etc. I have had it for 42 years and it will out-live me by several generations (I'm 75) if whoever gets it looks after it.

Actually, on these machines you should put the bobbin in so the thread comes out in a clockwise direction. You pull the thread and the bobbin spin clockwise. The opposite of what is claimed in this video. Later on, with the plastic bobbins, they put a small mark on one side of the bobbin. That mark should always be turned out. When you wind the bobbin, you turn the mark out, when you put the bobbin in the holder, you turn the mark out.
