As a toddler I think I remember seeing the Condor at Ocean Park cycling, but to 2 year old me, it looked like the ride was spinning the gondolas much faster, and the arm was rising up to the top much faster but then immediately lowering again the millisecond it reached the top, all while techno music was playing to the ride’s rising and falling cycle.

I grew up with the one at Hersheypark, Flying Falcon. Those giant birds circling the sky fascinated me as a child. I was 27 when it was removed and heavily focused on coasters but still faithfully rode it. Maybe they'll get the newer version.

I really like these classics - they look impressing and are fun to ride. The most intense Condor might be at Belantis, but the one at Tivoli Gardens is also a fantastic ride: Fata Morgana has a really long ride cycle, looks gorgeous (especially at night!) and the new seating position on those disks combined with stunning views over the city is a must do for thrillseekers 😊

I always wondered what was up with that weird Condor in Planet Coaster that had two vehicles with outward seats. As my home park, I’ve rode the one at Six Flags Great America many times. It has seemed less thrilling than when I was a kid so maybe they did slow it down, though I’ve also thought it was just me getting older. Thx for the info on this model!

The Condor I remember most was the one located at Morey's Piers (specifically the 'Surfside' Pier, near the Great Nor-easter and log flume). Truly a stunning visual, both from the ground and onride. Would love to someday try the outward-facing cards, though I doubt I'll be in Denmark anytime soon.

I remember one time when i was a kid, the Condor at Six Flags Great Escape got stuck at the top, and it took maybe an hour for the park staff to manually winch it down. It had been my favorite ride as a child because of the awesome views of the park and mountains, but i was always nervous to ride it after that. I'm not sure exactly, because I don’t go to the Great Escape very often anymore, but I think that the Condor now opens later in the day (maybe around 11 or noon) and maybe on some days doesn't open at all. I got to ride it again last summer, and it's not a thrill ride by any means, but it definitely is a lot of fun, scary if you're afraid of heights, and a great experience for kids.
@percyorsomething26418 ай бұрын
On a side note, my favorite thing about that ride is how the manufacturing label says it was made in West Germany. It always gave me a bit of a thrill to know I was riding a ride from the 80s or very early 90s. Although now, knowing how many of the family rides at that park are decades old, older than the Condor, it is slightly less scary.

And to complete the info both are running every opening day without any error or delays (I guess just a good maintenance?). Also I feel the one in Geiselwind is a bit faster than Belantis one.

I think all rides should have a place to stash your stuff in the seat. that's a brilliant idea
@KingRCT38 ай бұрын
The gondola with outward-facing seats actually banks during the ride cycle. At like 20 or 30°. So you rotate and alternate facing the ground, then the sky, then the ground, etc. In my opinion it makes the ride less scary, but that's a good thing because, and I don't know why, I'm really feeling nervous in a Condor. I found the normal gondola to be scarier.

@randomtraveler98545 ай бұрын
Can't speak for all of them but Hershey's wasn't very forceful. As long as you're not afraid of heights and can take some spinning it's a great family ride.

Back in like 96 or 97, I dunno cause I wasn’t there, my mom let my brother and sister on a condor, they were thirteen and four respectively, and she didn’t know it went up. Apparently my sister, being four freaked out and my brother had to reign her in. This was at Great Escape, and when I went there as a toddler in 2004 the ride was banned by our mom, and then when I went there as a teenager in 2019 the ride was down. Someday I’ll get down there and ride it, hopefully it stays up for a while.

It does remind me a lot of a stacked ride at Knott's Berry Farm called X11 (I think? 🤔) though I still to this day don't know what type of ride that was.. it used to stand where Supreme Scream currently is
