The Huss Pirate that I dealt with originally was on 4 trailers. Cliff Lowe always said it that it could be racked on 3. Bingo it was done and very well organized.

I went on one of the inward facing Frisbees a couple of years ago in Skegness, UK. Two things I remember: *A)* It had issues with starting due to the sensors weren't lining up properly. and *B)* I felt sick as a pig by the time I got off!

Here's my current wishlist for future FROTW videos (unchanged from last week): Matterhorn / Flying Bobs & Trabant / Hully Gully - these were mentioned in a previous video, and I look forward to seeing them. . Rainbow / 1001 Nacht Paratrooper Orbiter Miami Hurricane . [old-school and/or unique] 'Cuddle-Up' (basically an 'n'th-degree teacup ride) ... I'll never forget the in-the-dark "Iceberg" at Dorney Park Boomerang ... I remember seeing this at Casino Pier a LONG time ago, when I was too young for such things 'Sidewheeler' (or maybe 'Sidewinder') ... looking a bit like the inner workings of a watch, this one-of-a-kind SFGA installation was something to see

I'm looking forward most to the Trabant and its contemporaries. I went to Malibu Jack's on New Year's Eve, they had an SBF version of the ride and I was instantly taken back to when I was a little kid at my local cou to fair prior to 2016.

I know it's nothing compared to flats like the Matterhorn and Round-Up rides' rotation speed, but that first clip of the original Frisbee... holy moly, that's a fast spin for what the ride is!😮 Also, all the music tracks are well and truly *bops*

I've rode one of the original frisbees by Huss in "Parque de atracciones de Madrid" in Spain, built in 1997, still standing strong. I loved it. It has the tyre drive mechanism original from Huss. We also have a similar ride in "Terra Mítica park" in Benidorm called Synkope which is a Mondial Rides Revolution model, which is their version of the Giant Frisbee from Huss. This one is facing outwards and it's super intense as well. Love both of them.

Current original Huss Frisbee rides operating in the US : 1. Frisbee - Gillian’s Wonderland - Ocean City, NJ (This is the former Goetzke Frisbee from Germany that traveled around the US in 2018/19). 2. Xtreme Frisbee - Canobie Lake Park - Salem, NH 3. Tomahawk - Six Flags New England - Agawam, MA 4. Frisbee - Adventureland - Farmingdale, NY 5. Revolution - Six Flags Great America - Gurnee, IL (formerly Pendulum at Six Flags Great Adventure, NJ). Former Huss Frisbee rides in the US: 1. Frisbee - Six Flags Fiesta Texas - San Antonio, TX (scrapped 2015) 2. Taz’s Texas Twister - Six Flags Discovery Kingdom - Vallejo, CA (scrapped 2021)

I've ridden both US Huss Giant Frisbees, and the Tomahawk, the old Frisbee that was at Six Flags New England. But I've never been on a Discovery because SFNE always has a 2 hour line for theirs and I haven't been able to justify that wait. Absolutely love these rides. Six flags New England used to run theirs pretty fast, but it started slowing down towards the end of its life.

I thought SFNE still had tomahawk?
@Mrbombs1022 жыл бұрын
@@CoasterCollege it's still standing but on my last 3 visits in 2019-2021 it's been closed. I'm hoping it's just staffing issues. But SFNE isn't really good at communicating what the hell they are doing. But that thing never has a line and is very out of the way to get to, so it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't reopen. I could also just have the worst luck with my visits.

I have a few force graph recordings from Delerium at KI. The max I’ve gotten is 4.38g, so not far off from the advertised 4.5g. Max negative is -.5. It is very quick spikes though, essentially like a sine wave shaped force graph, unlike coasters that tend to hold their forces for a bit. I didn’t get a speed reading.

I'm glad maXair is coming back. Cedar Point's flat collection isn't the greatest and it was even weaker without this ride. I know people wanted it to be removed to add space for a roller coaster in Twister's former plot, but honestly I think there already is more space over there than people realize. I think their next coaster is going to be filler rather than an earth-shattering ride anyway, and they'll have even more room if they move Giant Wheel.

MaxAir has been rumored to be removed from Cedar Point, as of last year as an employee, but you know how rumors are! It was down due to problems with the drive motors the first time, and was down last year supposedly for a stress crack somewhere in the structure itself, that's why it was rumored to be removed. Glad to hear it should be operating this season.

Interesting... I wonder what the differentiators are when the parks decide whether to get one of these original Huss models versus their competitors like Zamperla? I can appreciate that size, weight & logistics of the mobile models would make something like an Afterburner more attractive... but the permanent models sound very similar (if not identical) in size, capacity, etc. I wonder if there's a notable difference product-wise... or perhaps the decision is mostly price-driven, such as deals with the likes of Zamperla to buy multiple rides? 🤔 (I'm an engin-nerd at heart but also find the business of the amusement industry interesting too LOL)

@@CoasterCollege Actually I just found out there are two. They are a nightmare to setup, tear down and keeping them running. The last time I had any dealings with one was at the South Carolina State fair. There was always something wrong with it. The pirate uses a little bit different drive. Two drives each drive rinds in one direction only and is this shit passes over the drive drops out of place. Then comes back up
@CoasterCollege2 жыл бұрын
@@poppiarlin5612 oh that's interesting that there are two. Yea, from what I found researching it seems like the setup/transport of the original frisbee was it's downfall. Interesting that the system is different between the pirate and the frisbee as well, I wonder why they would change the design.

@@CoasterCollege Weight of boat vs the round disk. The one I dealt with also had round weights that were added to each drive motor. Tire first then the weight. It looked similar to a wheel off of a Railroad boxcar. It’s been a few years back but it seems like this was like an aftermarket add on by Huss. I think it’s not just the weights that come with it it is some valves also for the hydraulics. I had to go pick a ride up from a company that does amusement ride refurbish and repairs. They had one set up from a park. They were telling me what was going on and I remember looking at the drive system and I said this diagnosis isn’t difficult. It needs the upgrade kit for the hydraulic drive system.
