I've been wanting Hutchinson wheels for a loooong time.
@cardenasrc512 жыл бұрын
So I’ve had a set of Rockmonsters for about 3 years on 35” KM3. I painted mine from day one, those locking nuts never came lose even on painted surfaces. They held air, never had any air leaks. I just received a set of 38x13.5x17 Trail Grapplers from Northridge along with these exact Apex air valves. I think I will position the beadlock/split wheel studs so one of the three longer ones is right next to the air valve. I’m assuming that the Apex valve will not flex like a regular rubber valve if drug along a rock. The Apex look like they stick out quite a bit so hopefully the longer stud will offer some protection.
@northridgenation2 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea. The Apex valves are a little vulnerable on the Hutchinson Rock Monsters.

@PaladinJSR Жыл бұрын
Does the rubber center piece really provide that much compression on the bead? Seems sort of gimmicky.
@northridgenation Жыл бұрын
Yes, they do and they do it well. They are very stiff and hold the both the inner and outer beads tight. Hutchinson has been doing wheels like these for many years, not only for the recreational crowd, but also commercial and military too.
@FlyFish4023 жыл бұрын
Does that rubber inner and seals wear out after awhile? Not a big deal because those rare super cool.
@ZroCool_Garage3 жыл бұрын
I’ve been running these rims since 2014 with no issues...
@northridgenation3 жыл бұрын
No, they don't move, so no wear to them. We do recommend replacing the o-ring when you each time you wear out a set of tires and replace them.

The only thing is after my last rotation I can't get the the tpms to work properly it's not reading it so I turned it off with the taser minnie haha no lights
@neilsmits98943 жыл бұрын
Man those are nice! I have Hutchinson’s on my LMTV, and would love them on my Jeep. Can you balance this combo using balance beads inside the tire? I like the DYI aspect of these rims
@northridgenation3 жыл бұрын
you could, though we'd recommend staying with stick on lead weights.
@cardenasrc512 жыл бұрын
I’d be worried about the balance beads falling through the air channel hole and getting stuck inside the inner bead band and wheel.
@ericmorris37302 жыл бұрын
I have these wheels, love them! Do you have any recommendations for the positioning of the inner bead lock band with TPMS in reference to the outer wheel valve stem for balancing?

Did you need to lift the Gladiator for the 37x12.50?
@northridgenation7 ай бұрын
Yes, models with the high flare like Rubicon and Mojave need 2.5" lift minimum. Standard flare models need 3" to 4" of lift. That's what the plastic caps are for.
@romandevengenzo42673 жыл бұрын
I think a rock could win vs the plastic nuts, but I haven’t seen it tested...valve stem was sticking out pretty far too 😕
@hardrockjeep3 жыл бұрын
@@romandevengenzo4267 I have run Rock Monsters for 5 years and have plenty of rock rash on the outer rims but nothing has ever hit the plastic caps. For one thing you can air WAY down and that leaves a lot of room between the sidewall and the cap. Thee are fabulous wheels. Highly recommended.
@cardenasrc512 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ve had them for about 3 years now. I’m pretty careless when I wheel, so I have lots of gouges on the rim, I’ve never made contact on the bolts.

Does Hutchenson make a set for 14-19 tundra? 5 x .150 bolt pattern. 18x9 would be perfect.
@northridgenation2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately they do not currently have any wheels with the 5x150mm pattern except in their commercial and military lines and those are very expensive.
@Marc_Figueroa3 жыл бұрын
Was there any issue with turning, was there any rubbing with turning the steering wheel all the way to one side, also were spacers used? And what lug nuts are recommend
@northridgenation3 жыл бұрын
Yes, on our Sport model we have some rubbing at full lock on the lower controls arms. You can fix it with a set of spacers or a wider axle. The Rubicon and Maxx Tow axles are 2" wider, so you'd have no problem if you have either of those.

I have seen another video on the same topic as the same brand of tire, as the line of tires, so I'm PRESUMING that it be possible to mount the larger tire that measures, 42x13.50, will this tire fit this wheel,

Very cool looking wheel.Safe for a daily driver? Maximum safe speed ?
@northridgenation3 жыл бұрын
Yes, very heavy duty, very safe at highway speeds and bombing down the two-track off-road. Maximum safe speed would be what your tires are rated for.
@jaycrane7612 жыл бұрын
Does Hutchinson allow for the use of bead balancing balls inside the tire or can you put water in the tire like I have done in the past is this ok?
@northridgenation2 жыл бұрын
We reached out to Hutchinson for an answer, they said they've heard of people using other media, but they do not recommend anything other than traditional style stick-on weights.

What does the yellow dot on the tire mean?
@northridgenation2 жыл бұрын
That typically means it is the lightest point on the tire and you typically want to line the dot up with your valve stem. BUT, that is not always the case.
@asaleemeadows2 жыл бұрын
@@northridgenation With the weight of that bracket, stock valve stem, and tpms sensor, shouldn't that position line up with the yellow dot?

The instructions from Hutchinson do not call for grease on the o-ring. I assembled mine dry with no issues. I don't know if I like the idea of a greasy o-ring collecting dust and dirt in a field repair.
@northridgenation2 жыл бұрын
Correct you do not need to use any sort of lube on the O-ring. We do it to make sure the o-ring stays in the groove as the wheel halves are going together and to make the o-ring easy to remove if we do need to disassemble the wheel.
