Huub Janssen, drumsolo

Huub Janssen was waarschijnlijk de beste drummer van Nederland. Hij drumde o.a. bij het Coctail Trio en bij Tom Manders. Daarna was hij 25 jaar de drummer van de beroemde Dutch Swing Collegeband. Ook heeft hij eigen formaties gehad. Huub Janssen overleed op 25 januari 2008. Enkele jaren daarvoor filmde ik hem op het Rijnmond Jazz Gala in Rotterdam. Filmtechnisch niet mijn beste opname, maar wel leuk!

Huub hoort thuis in het rijtje allergrootste drummers ter wereld, zoals Buddy Rich, Charley Antolini, Max Roach en nog enkele grote sterren. Misschien was hij wel de allerbeste.

RIP Huub Janssen (died 2008) definitely one of the all time greats who took the throne with the Dutch Swing College Band for 25 years. He was a master of his craft & a pretty good opera singer too! No arrogance here, just sheer talent & a pleasure to watch & listen to!

A great supporter of English made Premier drums. Regarded as Europe's finest, but never got the international recognition he deserved, up against the American great drummers at the time. Still, a legend in Europe and his home country, Holland.

I am American and I recognize him as one of the best of all time! I agree with you though sadly seemingly next to no one knows who he is here in the States until I post him on facebook then they definitely know him after watching his clips! They say the same one of the greatest ever!

Het was een prachtigste geschenk die in het zelfde ziekenhuis was broer overleden. De laatste handtekening met een Cartoon achtige tekening. De laatste moment waren wij allen bij de terminale gezegend was hij ook bij. Huub was onze beste vriend en Kameraad qua muzikanten.Onder andere wij waren de echte fans en hij was de kamer tegenover als patient. Hij had namelijk niets te vervelen. Hij nam zijn speelgoed als drumstokken mee en drumde op zijn matras. Huub alvast bedankt en rust in vrede..

huub was een zeer aardige man, samen met zijn vrouw riet. ik kwam bij huub over de vloer ,en was bevriend met zijn zoon huub JR. overal drummateriaal in de garage ,en op zolder. met name paiste . en in zijn auto altijd Gauloises shag ,en kauwgom waar we wel eens van pikte mooie tijd gehad . ben hem altijd blijven volgen. R.I.P.

This is why you dont use more than one small tom in front of you. The drums are the most visual instrument but you cant see the sticks flashing in the air so the moves are totally missed by the audience. Only other drummers listen but audience is half interested.

I think he does a kind of parody of the little machine drummer. that raises up his arms in exagerated strokes .its a wind up toy from years ago that works off of a spring . he leans over as if he's run out of batteries . just like the toy. its impressive . I've seen him do it before . he's like a machine .
