Cut some rags into strips, wet them, and wrap your valves before brazing. Works every time.

You could ohm out the coil of the contactor too. Around 12-17 ohms.

That wire is “MC ” Cable. Not BX cable. BX cable is that old style cable that you find in old houses and it has only 2 conductors

Test the resistance across the coil on contactor. Should be between 10-20ohms. If close to zero it’s shorted

Smell that bad contactor. Remember that smell, and everytime you have a blown fuse during cooling smell the contactor first. Same smell same issue have had to change many of them. I know I know that wouldn't make for good content on the channel though 😂

Curious, did you add nylog or some sort of thread sealant to the cap? And why not just measure the resistance value of the contractor coil?
