I usually remove the filters out of the unit with the power off,esier and all that crap don't fly all over the coil. Great video!

i usually check the filters and airflow before checking charge on a frozen unit, or quoting the customer an evaporator change as well.

It’s economizing and mechanically cooling. Lol. It all comes down to maintenance. I don’t know if you noticed but the outside air dampers are missing the metal mesh screen to keep the bugs out.

Nice vid. One thing I never do is use a brush on the coils. Simply I am not breathing that dust. Cannot be good for you and if your using coil cleaner, no need to brush. I can see in certain circumstances, but I have never run into a situation where coil cleaner did not get the coils clean with the need to brush the coil. Enjoyed the vid.

Is that coil cleaner microchannel safe. I wouldn't think so. The refrigeration Technologies yellow cleaner is microchannel safe....I tend to only use chemicals as a last resort on microchannel. Usually it's just water only.

Dawn dish soap (diluted with water) in a foam cannon works wonders, too, if you're lugging a pressure washer to the job site. The main thing is to break up the sap, oils and bug guts that get on the coils.

Hey JMT! I watch all of your videos and I really enjoy them all. I have a few HVAC questions. I really do not know this, and I am not trying to trip you up. Why is a p-trap used on condensation waste pipes? Will the condensation waste not flow out of a straight waste line? Is there an issue with odor?
@brokenhalo22Ай бұрын
You need to have a trap with water in it to keep the unit from pulling outside air into the cabinet via the drain line. I've seen units where the trap was dry, air was being sucked in through the drain, and the cabinet filled up with condensate and started leaking out in other spots, kind of like in this video where condensate was leaking out of the side of the unit. As soon as the unit was shut off, it lost that suction vacuum, and the condensate flowed out of the drain line like it was supposed to.

Oh! Okay, now I know. Thank you so much for answering my question!

My question for you here as you are always back at this hotel. Is there not even a basic pre planned maintenance schedule in place or is everything run to fail. I get things like fan motors etc replacing when they fail but for filters to be in the state they are.

I tell people all the time if you knew what the AC system looking like in some places you would never go in. Restaurant ice makers are the worst, I have seen some with new life forms evolving in them. The microchannel coils are crap. York use to make good units.
