when defrosting an evap i use a little steamer, they are awesome and you can cut away chucks of ice instead of having to melt the whole piece, works amazingly!

Hey man I recently got a job doing commercial work on federal buildings. Vrf, vav, chillers, package, etc. I feel a but nervous just getting around these because I'm still in school but I'm eager to learn. I wanted to ask, is this how you felt when you first started or did you already have a background by the time you dealt with these types of systems?

Everyone goes through that feeling. You’re going to make mistakes and you won’t know how to do everything but the most important things is that you’re eager To learn

I'm not an HVACR guy and I don't understand water and refrigerant cooling in the same unit. It just baffles me how it can be both.

@ronnym1977 Hey Ronny, I'll break it down for you. There is a condenser coil in every AC or refrigeration system. Its purpose is to reject heat. The condenser coil is hot, and there is refrigerant inside of the coil, which needs to be cooled off to reject that heat. The refrigerant and water never mix. There are usually fans to do this job BUT in this case, they use water because of the location as it's indoors. The water is only to cool off the condenser coil instead of a fan, and that's it. The refrigerant does all the actual cooling. Hope that helped. Thanks for watching as always! Be safe 🔧⚡️
