You’re just buying the wrong zebra pens. The old metal ones with the space refill is this best ever.🤔👍

Not good enough! I still use since Aug 2022 my Zebra F-xMD moded with the Fisher Space refill. My only boo boo is streching the spring too much in the mod and the click still works but is weid to click and use. I enjoy it still and put up with it but that is all. It is metal and I have no other problems with it. I think you just have a string of bad luck when it comes to Zebra pens. I live in Alaska in a rural area when I not offten, but do have to write in 0 to -30 def F outside so the pressure ink is a must for me.

Maxlvledc showed off a favourite of mine, slightly pricier but definitely worth it; The Uniball Jetstream prime 3&1. Metal, 3 inks 1 mechanical pencil, takes standard d1 refills, eraser under the end cap and said end cap is apparently a non squishy stylus. Only thing you may have an issue with is that it's a twist type, albeit an infinite rotation version. It's in his "10 more awesome edc pens!" video at around 10:13. Would love to hear your take on it!

@hvacbudget8600 They're much easier to acquire in the US than here. Jetpens has them in stock, but their price is eye-watering.

Only pens that have survived extended pocket carry for me are Fishers bullet pens. Solid brass, very compact, writes on pretty much anything and works even at -30 Celsius. Only issues I've had have peen pocket clips that sometimes get loose but I wouldn't even consider any other pen for every day carry.

Zebra F-701 all metal pen with a space pen insert. You have to take a round file and open up the end a bit but it works perfectly.

I EDC a Chavez bolt action pen, or a Tactile Turn button pen. Not budget, but as a knife collector who just happens to need a pen everyday, I couldn’t help myself. Had to budget for them, but I eventually got there and they never leave my right back pocket now. Even when I’m not on call/out in the field. Anything with a wire clip I despise! I’ve had more wire clips get caught on stuff than any other style clip. Especially worming around in crawlspaces, or monkeying around in an attic. The last place you want to be looking for your pen is in an attic with 50 year old, previously undisturbed blown insulation. I’m afraid you’re more than likely all too familiar with this scenario, as we are both in the same line of work. Before those two, I just always used a free Johnstone or Shoemaker pen. Johnstone would hand them out by the dozens and still have several in my truck, and all over my house.
@hvacbudget86009 ай бұрын
Oh those days of insulation!!! Ahhh!! 130 deg attics. Trying not to fall though a ceiling! And yes it is awful when the insulation swallows up a tool like quicksand!

I always have a zebra g-301 7mm tip pen. For the last 8 years straight anyways. I’d actually love to find a nice metal bolt action body that takes those refills. I use it every day for my work paperwork which isn’t actually a lot and I’d guess go thru 2 pens max a year.

I love the G-750, for me it's absolutely perfect. Its metal with nice feel and weight, it writes fantasticly, and is cheap enough that replacing it won't hurt too bad. I can respect that is not durable enough for you and your carry, though.

The Air Press has certainly done better than the zebras.

Hm, you could get a Parker Jotter for 15 bucks, which looks not only a lot more stylish, but also lasts. I am not much of a pen person, so after I left university like 10 years ago I just use whatever plastic pens my company provides and I rarely have to write something not on PC anyway, so I just keep a plastic pen in my backpack (cause it weighs almost nothing). One thing I wouldn't recommend is getting anything with a rubber grip you want to keep for long, cause in my experiences those rubber grips tend to become nasty or loose.

Same deal with Space Pens… they come apart in my pocket and somehow manage to get damaged to the point where I can’t reassemble. Pokka pens don’t have this problem (I’d recommend the version with pressurized ink). Also Victorinox has never failed me - the 55 mm pens are perfect for the keychain.

👍🏼I’ve been using a Bastion slim for over a year. It was $38. Now I think it’s $42. Kind of a lot for a pen for me but I like it. I did put a rubber grip on it from a disposable pen. :)

I can't speak to the current quality, because mine have lasted so long, but I use Pentel Energel 0.5mm. Disposable, but sturdy, and I love the way they write. All of mine have lasted over 5 years, and I think there are some 10 year old ones in my car.
