I wished he had gotten an old rusted shut instead of a brand new one.

He forgot to replace the screws that secure the blower in the track.

Firstly, for beginners like me, I always take a picture of the board/wires to ensure they're put back properly. Second, never yank off the wires; hold the board while pulling them off gently. And third, I used a coat hanger to hold the board up and away to remove the blower, much easier! ✌️😎

I;m trying to change motor using a universal fit vs Goodman and it uses a bracket not fitting too well with bolt holes . The tech said my system being 15-20 yo just change it new furnance , blower etc . New system . Nope . I told him this is why I didn't want to call any tech in the first place . just greedy .

@@kdw2909 exactly. I’m probably looking close to 7 or 8 K because the duct work been done or be at least 10 grand. If I’d replace the whole system

if the shaft is seized or jammed, how can we take the motor from blower wheel?? WD40 takes much time. And no way to use pulley puller.

8:43 As far as replacing the capacitor when replacing the motor......it might be a good idea to replace the motor if you have to replace the capacitor.....because if the motor is sitting their with power on but not spinning, making that whining sound....chances are the windings got overheated before the thermal protection opened the circuit. I just replaced the capacitor and the motor started once......but it stalled during the next cycle.

On another video a guy's blower wheel had been vibrating and it was all broken loose from the back hub. So it's a good idea to inspect it at that back hub where all the vanes are welded to it.

Thanks man. I didn't know that the blower just slid out. I almost cut a hole in the side of the housing to get it out.

Has anybody removed a fan-blower from a counter flow furnace?
@ashf54332 жыл бұрын
seems the mounting bracket is soldered on motor, if the replacement motor do not come with bracket, what bracket part number should be used?
@coolramone2 жыл бұрын
I used the (band) bracket that came off the old blower motor. It wraps around the motor, has 4 legs, and tightens up with a bolt.

You reconnected the wires to the board incorrectly. Compare the location of the yellow wire at the beginning of the video with the way you reconnected them to the end. You also did not reinstall the screws that secure the blower housing. Attention to detail is crucial when doing work like this, and this is an example of what happens when you don't pay attention to detail. This video is how NOT to change a blower motor.

Does the set screw have to go onto any particular place on the shaft? I noticed the shaft have groves in it on the flat part. Does the set screw need to line up with these groves on the flat side of the shaft? I noticed the set screw fits in the groves so that’s what makes me think that’s where it goes on the shaft.

What if the nut holding the squirrel cage to the shaft is stuck tight and won't come off?
@realljd24968 ай бұрын
Any advice on stopping the fan from grinding against the cage? That’s my only problem I go through when pulling blowers out as a new tech.

I don't know why I am watching this. My neighbors have kittens stuck above their blower thing and I am struggling to get someone to come rescue them. If it were my apartment I might just take this apart. I have heard them crying since Saturday afternoon.😢

HI. GREAT VIDEO. Thanks. Quick question. If you put medium or extra speed wires on park, how would you run it on fan only without heat or cool. If you just wanted to circulate air. Thanks

U run a/c speed.

He called it a service wrench I think. It's named offset dog bone wrench

Update - previously I’ve posted the universal bracket one was having a hard time but no I got it in. Motor was under $100 and bracket another $30 ( at the time over a year ago). And yeah many suppliers won’t sell to general public only to AC techs / companies. Johnson Supply does though.
