The 3 n'1 Start Relay adds new life to old refrigerators and freezers by providing an additional boost to the compressor. Replaces all 3 electrical components - relay, overloard and start capacitor on all capillary systems. Completely prewires. Installs qucikly and easily by simply pushing on 3 female pin terminals. Used for refrigeration systems with or without run capacitors. Sizing is based on the HP rating of the compressor, and the continuous running amperage.

I see there are many uncertainties regarding the 2 power wires that you didn't mention or show in your video. So for the people that was asking about that. You CANNOT connect those wires directly to the power cord wires. You have to connect the 2 black wires to the fridge control wires (basically the same wires you took off the relay and overload) It doesn't matter which one takes the hot line or neutral line.

So which wires get connected to the hardstart, the two legs of power or one leg of power and the other ground wire as there were three wires running originally to the compressor. What do we do with the extra wire?

The overall price of a hard start kit is cheaper than paying for a compressor replacement which can be $2,500 or even more. $20 part, 10 minutes work.

I just got one of these and the power source wire connects to some sort of relay..i had a power surge from lightning and when i hooked up the 3n1 the condensor fan comes on but not the compressor..is the small relay bad as well???

Hi, I heard the 3N1 can fry/damage the compressor depending on the type of the compressor even if you choose the correct HP rating. It can lead to compressor death after a few months. Is that true?

I use them on refrigerators if there is a run capacitor on the start relay you can wire it into the hard start to the compressor and they work great

hello, my refrigerator was not cold. The compressor was not running. i replaced Supco 3 'N 1 Kit and the compressor started running again. but accidently 1 open wire touch the metal part and sparked. now the compressor is not running anymore. i bought another Supco 3 'N 1 Kit and installed it but the compressor is still not running. i checked the control board and the fuse is still good. would you please tell me what is possibly go wrong and how to fix it?? What's your opinion on the longevity of these things? I'm thinking about using this with a chest freezer. A brand new one is like $150, and I can get a used one for like $70-80. Dunno if it's worth fixing for $20 if I may come home to spoiled food one day. I heard someone else say "from a few days to a 2 years." If it's 2 years, I might as well get another one.

I've seen these 3 N 1 kits installed over 3 years ago and still operating a refrigerator. It all depends on the compressor for the most part. I hear people say this is more of a temporary solution until they get the OEM parts for it but they do work and are reliable. It's up to you really. @@JumpermanTech I tried it yesterday and it didn't help. I took a shot. My chest freezer does power on, the compressor does turn on, but it only gets refrigerator cold after a full day. Frost only forms on about 6 inches near the top, and right next to it you can see water dripping. It was supposedly working, but the dude said he used it for a year, then put it away for 2 years. Something happened between then and now. The 3 N 1 kit didn't do anything I don't think. I got the compressor to turn on just like before but same issues.

@@aznnp77 The 3 N 1 kit has a sole purpose to start your compressor so it is definitely doing its job. If your compressor is running, condenser fan motor and evaporator fan motor then you have a different issue. In that case, If it's all running but not cooling down, you most likely have a refrigerant leak.

@@JumpermanTech Thanks. I spent entirely too much time messing with it. I have the symptoms of dirty coils, but the coils are in between the walls, so there's no way to clean them. Not sure how it could develop a leak after only being used for 1 year and being kept in a garage for the other 2. I got it for free though, so I took a shot. Not too much harm done other than 2 expensive gallons of gas. Thanks for your replies.

The unit I tested would start the motor but then never disengage the starter, I'm going to try the next smaller unit. If that works then these need to be sized very carefully.

Where does the thermostat come into play? Would the freezer simply be “on” all the time without a temp sensor to shut it off? I have small freezer that has thermostat with temp settings.

The thermostat is before all of this in the circuit, the thermostat controls power to the relay and relay controls power to the compressor.

Some say that hard start kits can be detrimental to refrigerators because the forcefulness of the start can cause compressor parts to deteriorate faster. The large capacitance boost from the kit can also lead to compressor failure if the refrigerator runs for a long time without the motor-run capacitor. The high-boost over-capacitance starts can also repeatedly hammer the motor.

No. This unit is simply for starting the compressor. If you have two capacitors that are connected with your compressor, that means it has a run capacitor. The run capacitor is essential to proper operation of the compressor when it's running. It remains on the entire time the compressor is on. The hard start kit only uses its capacitor for a microsecond to make the compressor start, then it's off for the entire time the compressor is running. The run capacitor will have a significantly lower microfarad rating than the start capacitor.
