At the end of the video I talk about what I'll be testing next. My discount codes for Amazon prime are in the description below. I test both DELTA PRO machines against 120 V and 240 V Lincoln wire welder. I also tested against a WATER HEATER and a 2.5 Ton HEAT PUMP. At the end of the video I talk about what I'll be testing next.

I have been waiting for someone to do this comparison test between these two units. I have 2 original Delta Pros with the dual voltage hub to get 240V connected a transfer switch for home back up. So the upgrade for me would be the DPU. GOOD JOB!!!!!

I see you are using doubled up 15 amp circuit breakers in the SHP2. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but are they called a double throw single pole breaker? I have GE older 15 & 20 amp single breakers installed in my SHP2. I realize each quadrant is limited to 60 amps draw with the assigned breaker. I love how you installed the SHP2,with a 2 inch pipe

from what i understand, if you connect 2 DPUs to the SHP2.0, there'll be 14KW available of continuous power. does this mean that if I have a load of say 9 kw, would this still be fine even if a DPU is rated 7kw?
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival Ай бұрын
When you combine two DPU units together you’re correct, 7200w x 2=14,400 watts. You’ll have the full 14,400 watts to run a load up to that rating. Surge watts is 10kw each totaling 20kw

Would the DP3 with the dual voltage hub would be able to handle the 45 amps draw? AWESOME VIDEO 🎉

Two dp3 would be 4k+4k=8kw / 120v = 66 amps or 33 amps at 240v.

I know you can’t with the smart home panel 2 as of now so I would speculate the answer would be no due to the unequal power capacity. Try emailing EcoFlow, if you have any problems getting an answer let me know and I’ll reach out to my contact.

Can the Ultra power a 1hp well pump and handle the initial power surge?
@HVACRSurvival

Mine is a 3/4hp well and it doesn’t phase it. The ultra has a surge of 10kw area. It’s impressive. Until these two power stations came out there wasn’t anything I could use without building a system that would be large and a hassle.

This is a great video. Well describing the differences at a top level. I have been looking at the DPU and it seems more in the ballpark with my battery backup whole house idea I have. I like the watts rating, just don’t like the solar inputs. I am trying to decide if I go with a ECO Flow appliance or discrete components with an inverter such as Sol-Ark or EG4, etc. My initial idea was to go completely off grid and not rely on the Texas power grid. I have looked at the cost of that it is high, and I am now considering a backup with batteries and a generator for the batteries in a grid down scenario. Thanks again for your great video. All the best from north Texas!

the majority of standard electric dryers run a single element and control the temperature, by cycling with a small heater built into the cycling thermostat. later models would have temp and mositure sensors that cycle via a relay. the newest stuff out there, god only knows. 🤣

@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 2 ай бұрын
@@HVACRSurvival yeah, the motors in them can be power hungry on start up, especially with a heavy wet load. they are centrifugal start switch and capacitor type(sometimes cap. is at motor, others up in control box). that same switch also brings on element power, assuming the settings and thermostats are all closed calling for heat. so it pretty much goes from high motor start current instantly to element on full current draw as it's just finished starting.

Rick Thank you, I always wondered about not having Solar power. So my question is when you go to charge the units can I use. L-30 NEMA cord to charge from gas Gen to the Ultra or the Delta 3. Also can I use a gas or propane small inverter generator to charge using above cord. Thank you. I would be using these products in a summer home where electricity is very expensive.
@HVACRSurvival

Yes you can charge either the DPU or DP3 with the L-30 plug if you get the adapter from EcoFlow. That will allow faster charging than the 120v wall plug.

The phone app for the DPU with 2 batteries indicates battery temperatures ranging from 98 to as high as 111 F. Right now they say 104 and 99. They are charged to 90% and drawing no input wattage and no output. The ambient temp is 86. I emailed Ecoflow support who replied basically not to worry about it, indicating it was normal. I was wondering if you or anybody else have similar temp readings on your DPU batteries.

I haven’t noticed it running warm. Gotta remember the batteries are inside the unit with a lot of other things going on. They likely will get warm if pulling power from them.

Hi Rick, great video. I left you a comment/question three weeks ago but I didn’t see a reply. It’s probably because it was so long. Can the Delta pro ultra or the Dp3 do a power switch between grid power and battery power without shutting off refrigerators and small portable air conditioners unfortunately my old Delta pro could not do it. Really would appreciate a reply. Prefer to stay within the Ecoflow ecosystem if possible.

I thought I showed in the video the smart home panel 2 transfer switch has a 20 ms transfer speed? If you have the appliances that you’re wanting powered by the two devices you just mentioned then yes it will switch right over, as a matter effect. We just had our power shut off for maintenance and it switched over and we didn’t even know it and it just switched back an hour later. This is assuming that you have the Smart home panel 2 installed. If you have anything else, then no you’re gonna have to plug it into the device and it’ll work the way I described in the video.

i noticed on your SHP2 that you didn't move any neutrals for the circuits into the panel. isn't that required? i want to put this panel at my house but that mess of re-wiring is making me rethink.

@@HVACRSurvival Im planning on getting one to power an office shed daily, its pre-wired with a transfer switch subpanel. Biggest load is a 9k mini split. Also to use as back up emergency power for the main house. Noise was the biggest issue with the last Delta Pro, I could go DPU or DP3 now but I’m also factoring inverter efficiency. Keeping a 7000 watt inverter idle must consume a lot of power when overnight all I need to run in the shed is a small dorm size fridge.

Hey sir, thanks so much for the knowledge. I was wondering, much does installing a generator inlet box cost in a roundabout figure. I live in California and have been wanting to have one installed.
@TobyCostaRica
@TobyCostaRica 2 ай бұрын
Probably $1-$1500 now, I was quoted 750-1000 a few years ago from licensed electricians. You can also do an interlock which is less labor. It turns the entire panel to generator power. But you have to tell everyone in the house to not exceed the generator.

@rob California everything’s more money. Around here you might have $150-$250 in it. It depends on how many feet of wire they need to use and how difficult it is to run that wire.
