Just to say I've been watching a few other American techs (🤠) recently just by browsing and YT feeds and most are right up in the "all the gear but no idea" category. Some scare me that they put it out on KZbin for everyone to see not knowing what an embarrassingly low level of diagnosis they exhibit. There seems to be a lot of on the job self learning From what I've seen, You're in the top tier of YT'bers in skill knowledge and ability . I commend your channel to everyone looking to learn and even relearn the trade and methodology Hearty congratulations.

I got a (silly) question for the all of yous! now, oddly enough, I am NOT an HVAC guy at all (yet, I am fascinated to hell by all of this!) I have a 3-ton (10 seer, R22) Heil unit in my apartment.. it turns on, it blows cool air.. but it does not seem to condense any moisture- seemingly at all! Now, it took me all year just to get the apt management to send a tech to stick a manifold on it and gauge the thing and they said "it was low on charge" so the tech put some R22 in (about some over half its capacity) and that just made the air cooler- but it still doesn't condense. Now it may be cooler, but its still sticky and now cold WET air! (and mold is also an issue here) As i'm watching these videos, I have learned a LOT.. and still learning.. but I'm just curious on your opinions as to what you guys think the fault(s) is! The compressor sounded hollow before he filled it (which suggests that it was running EMPTY) yet it never over-cooled.. originally, using only a store-bought thermometer, I was only able to get a TD of only 6 degrees.. now its closer to 18.. but it still doesn't seem to collect any water The A coil is clean and drain/sink are clear and DRY overall, but I don't think this thing is working properly.

I’ve had a unfortunate callback on bearings on the cfm. Went to the call the first time and unit was running top notch after the maintenance guys “reset it”. Came back 2 days later, motor was overheated and a fair amount of shaft play. Ya live and ya learn

Great video, Chris. I'd love to see the extra footage of you finding the problems turned into a video. My only criticism is that I would definitely have put the hail guard back on that air handler because it protects the already fragile coil from storm damage and keeps sunlight off the coil so there won't be an infrared heat load on an ageing unit. Another good reason for having a hail guard is to protect against the corrosion of the aluminium. A paper published in the International Journal of Chemical Engineering in 2021 has shown how ultraviolet light promotes and accelerates the corrosion of aluminium, particularly where heat and humidity are also present.

Because these are Real Life Calls like we run. You show the Ups, The Downs, success and frustration of the Service side. And in this trade we can experience all of those feelings in one day! Lol Man brother keep doing what your doing! It's great stuff! BTW man it seems that all of those Lennox 3 stage L series RTU's bring alot of Buisness your way. In order to remove humidity, you have to cool the air bellow the dew point. So the most important thing to remove water is to achieve the lowest temperature. As an example let's say the dew point is at 85 If the 2 stage evaporators are "in parallel" "half" air flow go through each one and the air temp in front of one will not change when the second stage will start. like First stage on exchanger 100 in 80 out (so 5 under dew point =>condensation occur so dehumidifying) Second stage off exchanger 100 in 100 out (so nothing) Output of unit 90 When the second one start First stage on exchanger 100 in 80 out (so 5 under dew point =>condensation occur so dehumidifying) Second stage off exchanger 100 in 80 out (so 5 under dew point =>condensation occur so dehumidifying) Output of unit 80 In this case each stage is able to remove the same quantity of water per running time If the two stage are "in series" the temp will low one after the oher First stage on exchanger 100 in 90 out (so nothing) Second stage off exchanger 90 in 90 out (so nothing) Output of unit 90 When the second one start First stage on exchanger 100 in 90 out(so nothing) Second stage off exchanger 90 in 80 out (so 5 under dew point =>condensation occur so dehumidifying) Output of unit 80 In this case, when one stage run no dehumidification can occur, it's happen only when both are on. So it depend of the construction of the unit and you may lower the dehumidification by unlink the two stages That's why on small home split system, the dehumidification is done by lower the inner fan speed, to cool down air bellow the dew point. And as vaporised water have an high latent energy this explain why you can spot an economiser taking outside air at full when the outside air temp is higher than the inside one. A 100 dry hot outside air have less energy inside and will be easier to cool down to 75 than a 80 air with 100% humidity. These value are for illustration, real value can be found in the no enough know and hard to read and understand psychometric chart www.engineeringtoolbox.com/docs/documents/816/psychrometric_chart_29inHg.pdfpsychrometric_chart_29inHg (I'm used to use one in °C, cubic meters and grammes but I manage to found one for you with all theses weird Imperial units this also explain why I use weird temp as I don't deal well with F° !) The reading of the chart is a full lesson by itself.

I know in some of your videos you talk about vibration on units, and how it doesn't seem to come across on camera. I wonder if a magnetic bubble level would be able to illustrate the vibration more then the camera itself can. Though some units you can really tell the vibration is bad haha. Thanks for the videos, nice to see how someone else problem solves and their thought process during it.

I was thinking about this on the road earlier. Both those switches just happened to fail the exact same way at the same time? More than likely it was a condenser fan motor problem that was exacerbated by a particular weather event or something. That or you fixed it on the service call and that’s why no call back. 2 bad switches just seems too fishy.
