I would consider finding a female Korean cohort to explain MVs made by female artists. The women commenting on your reaction (as well as on No, by CLC) are more on point with what is happening in the video than you are, IMHO. I love you but sometimes it takes a woman to understand the subtext of what a woman is saying.

What makes this song more interesting is that Hwasa is actually the type of woman who give all out to the person she loves: basically she's the man in this song. Also in the scene where the man was under her inside the black dress, I think it represents that the man was blinded by love, but he's also the one who can make her stand, who supports her.

@@jaeheekang4930 Making theories off a game or film is harder than interpreting lyrics. I gave a rather detailed explanation, just go to the bottom if your too lazy (。ゝ(ェ)・)-☆ DKDKTV: Here, Danny and David have most of the meaning in front of them. Where a lot of songs hold references to fairy tales, folklore, parables, etc. As they said in the interview, they tend to also look at the news around the time of the songs release to see if there could be any possible leads there. While at times they do have to digging and A LOT of research, it's not quite as complicated as Game Theory. Game Theory: Matt Pat and his team have to look at individual details that many people over look, sometimes they even have to do some math, or science research and then they have to condense it in a way that most people can understand. Since they are a more science and math oriented channel and they're creating theories they need give us reason why their theory is correct. They need to show the evidence supporting their theory (like what Danny and David do here) but because they're looking at games which are often multiple choice and have several endings AND the developers love to hide things for them to find, it's not as easy. Long story short: They both need to prove their theories and give evidence BEFORE they can make their final statement. Without providing proper evidence, their statements would be disregarded and both DKDKTV and Game Theory/Film Theory would not be as successful as they are now since they are both known for their well researched theories with sound evidence to support it.

I think that we are the boyfriend: let me explain. 1.Hwasa was in a plastic bag, like a product, or some kind of doll. She is a product 2. In the table escene, she is the meal, but no one wants her, representing the fool agencies who rejected her for being "fat", or not be a korean beauty canon, (white skin, thin complexion, etc...) . 3. The scenes of the lion and the queen, represents her nicknames. 4. "You make royal, you make hero, you make genius", she is saying that we put her on a pedestal. 5. The boyfriend trying to entertain her, means how we send gifts, compliment her, and do anything to be noticed for her, (just watch the V-lives). 6. "You give a lot, but why you are the only one feeling unhappy?" The fans always worry about idols, but not always for themselves, specially the depressed ones, who only find happiness on idols and all about it, (this is common with teens in korea, and with adult men in japan).

Hwasa herself was in relationship where she was blindly in love with her bf. She persued him for a year and they dated for 2,5 years. She said that she threw away her pride, when dating him. While talking about the song, she said that the real twit is the person that doesn't appreciate loyal partner. So yeah, the lyrics are quite personal. Imo, both parties are wrong. You should be on equal footing in relationship, otherwise it's not fun for either partner.

I completely agree. This song hits me hard because several months ago, I was in a sort of depression because I was so dedicated to loving my boyfriend that I forgot how to love anything else. I started to hate myself because I didn't feel I was good enough and I couldn't stand not being with him at any given moment. I got lonely and had trouble enjoying anything I used to enjoy. Both me and my boyfriend hated it. I went to therapy for it and while I am significantly better now and feel like each month I do a bit better, I still struggle with it. Listening to this song helps me to remember my determination to do better for both myself and my boyfriend and that I can live a life beyond just him. We've been happily dating for one year now and we intend to last much, much longer. The one thing that I will say I kind of disagree with the song's message is that being the twit who can love only one person and nothing else is so much worse than being the person who doesn't want their partner to be like that. A relationship should be equal. A partner who doesn't want that isn't worth your time.
@jjd3595 жыл бұрын
The majority of the focus appears to be on Hwasa and how she feels. She's equally being a voice for the male counterparts through the symbolism and imagery. Hwasa in a plastic bag showing suffocation - the guy under her black dress, he's also suffocating due to her for example. Which brings a full circle back to the beginning of where she is reading the book animal farm - portrayed as a happy and innocent story with deeper hidden messages within. It's brilliant that she's not just providing a voice for female empowerment, but also equally for males.

I like the image of that barren tree and the metaphor of delicate Simcheong. If you don’t take care of your inner self, you don’t have a stable, warm and peaceful state of mind to get along with someone. Self-love would be the best way to correct this “fool”(twit) situation. You have to be a complete person yourself firstly and then you will get along well with another complete person by having a mature heart.
@metaellyana17055 жыл бұрын
Yeahh.. the metaphor of barren tree really hit me. Because I was a twit before when this guy is my life but in the end i got hurt and hurting him too. Mature relationship is way different.. You should love yourself and have good inner self image then your relationship can stand in equally foot. Otherwise it will become sucofatting relationship

I also think that the bird is an albatross, alluding to the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, where a crew stuck at sea is visited by an albatross which is supposed to bring good weather. As soon as it arrives they get better winds and no storms, but a mariner shoots it down and dooms the crew. I think it's a metaphor for Hwasa and her boyfriend.

It's almost like the overarching message of the LY series from BTS: true love only can come when you learn to love yourself. This man clearly does not know himself or speak himself. He just knows how to give attention and his all to his partner, which ultimately feels like empty gestures.

This analysis is a bit one dimensional, only touching on the very first impression you would get from the mv - about a love sick fool. But there are so many things one would miss if they havent followed Hwasa or mamamoo for a while, like - the throne and crown reference her nickname queen hwasa by the fans (started becoming a thing in 2018) - the lions reference her other nickname hwasaja within the fandom, meaning she looks and is fierce like a lion (and other funny stories behind it) - the white veil hinting at her catholic religion - all the women leaning on her for support but wheein is the only one hwasa leans on because through their 10+ years of friendship they've formed a bond so intimate that hwasa can only show her weakness to her while all the other girls see her as a role model - the plastic bags... superficial industry with girls marketed as products, suffocation within invisible restraints blablabla you know the usual - the entire mv has her mark all over it, all the struggle she went through from debut to get where she is now. People forget that she used to get so much hate for how she looked - not thin enough, not white enough, not doll like. It would be a shame to reduce all of this simply into a story of how she feels sorry for a man
@muzikk675 жыл бұрын
I don't think she feels sorry for a man. I think she feels sorry for herself. The guy is putting her on a pedestal when she feels empty like that dead tree. And that probably intensifies self hatred. When you're already insecure, and then people put you on a pedestal, there's incongruent views of self perception--how you actually view yourself and the ideal. And when the other person leaves, there's no one to tell her that she's great anymore, so she's consumed by a feeling of emptiness. The song calls the guy a twit for only loving her. But she is a twit for not loving herself. It doesn't even have to be about a boyfriend. It could be about fans, who are similarly obsessed one day and then forget the idol the next. How does the idol feel in that situation? So I diagree that is about a love sick fool.

interesting but i think a bit differently. for me it's not that she doesn't like the boyfriend anymore and she's looking for someone else or whatever, i think it's more of a different view on abusive relationship. the guy is obssessed with her and the thing is, based on the progression of the lyrics, at first she's annoyed at him for being that way but then she realizes that SHE MADE HIM that way. she led him on and dominated the relationship because she thought of herself as powerful, confident and the best and eventually it's like the boyfriend was brainwashed to think the same. at the end we see him leaving because i guess he realized it was not healthy and even tho she realized what she had done (made him her puppy then told him to not follow her around like one) it was too late and she couldn't make him stay.

If you take into consideration what it must be like to date an idol realistically no matter how invested they are in the relationship it’d be difficult to prioritize it amongst crazy schedules, frequent traveling, etc. in the lyrics she mentions her greed pushing the other person away & I think that greed could be her professional or artistic greed for her work. Actually I think the bird is an albatross. If you've read the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, you'd might remember that the albatross is a bringer of good weather but the mariner kills it dooming the crew ... So I think Hwasa here is the mariner and the boyfriend is the albatross.

okay so I saw this theory somewhere under the mv in the comment section i think,, but it was really good and really caused me to think deeply about this mv. Basically its another theory kind of similar to this one but instead of focusing on the bf it focuses on the fans/stans of kpop. I think it can be applied to any fandom within kpop but the theory went along the lines of "you give me (the idol(s)) so much, but why are you feeling unhappy" and they go on to explain that kpop is so intense like theres this video out theres that mv theres this vlive, there's so much going on all the time that you just can't concentrate on other things. (especially if you're multifandom) It talks about how energy and time consuming it is to join these fandoms and how sometimes you don't truly feel happy and its' all just a facade. At some point, you may even start feeling dissatisfied with yourself and this is where the frustration against yourself builds up. There's another line where hwasa goes "a man that only knows me" that signifies more of how in kpop we only look at our idols and not at anything else, causing us to lose focus/concentration in more productive things like studies, etc. I quote another comment I saw, 'Hwasa finally points out that being too obsessed around only one person is kind of miserable as it closes your mind and prevents you from discovering the world and yourself.. ' and i frankly agree,, this love for idols can easily turn obsessive and that really closes our eyes off from the rest of the world and prevents us from further discovering ourselves and realizing our potentials. "you make me royal you make me hero you make me genius" this part shows how much we idolize out idols, we treat them with the utmost priority (making them "royal") we see every good thing they do (making them "hero(es)") and we think of them very highly (making them "genius") Another line is "i make you patient i make you puppy i make you hungry" this part again shows how much we idolize them again, taking "i" as the perspective of the idol , we have to wait for more content, comebacks, concerts, etc. (making us "patient"), we listen to them and respect them and even obey them if they tell us to do stuff at times (making us "puppy") like a clueless puppy just following its owner and only knowing its owner, we really want the content we are waiting for and look forward eagerly to it (making us "hungry") because we look forward to it as easily as looking forward to eat, maybe even more. Another line goes, "I don't give anything, but why am I unhappy too" this signifies how the idols themselves feel bad that we spend so much time, money, etc on them to the point where our love for them becomes obsessive and we feel like we can't live without them. linking that to "don't just breathe for me" hwasa says here, don't make your love for me obsessive to the point where you start to blind yourself, I want you to live life to the fullest and happily too. You can continue to support me and love me , but don't let it hinder you, rather let it support you and inspire you to keep on going. About the "delicate shim cheong" part, I read the story (the translated version as a comment under the mv) and I feel that shim cheong was fillial and loved her father to the point of sacrificing herself so that he could see again and be happy, this is a very strong form of love because she loved someone so much that she sacrificed her life for him. In a way, we do that now too, we sacrifice a lot of time, effort and money in stanning our idols because we love them so much, but hwasa also describes how those who do these are also fools, and she clearly states " I do not like it, nobody likes it" she clearly says the idols themselves are worried for their fans and the people (friends and family) around the fans are also worried for them, thus, nobody liking the fans sacrificing so much of themselves, not even the idols. Another line goes "we've lost our way (don't wanna be your sun) " In this part, hwasa really expresses that we are lost and we don't have a clear aim or goal with what we're going to do, kpop has made us lost and aimless, even if you know what studies you'll pursue or what job you will take/ are taking for example, . hwasa also says "dont wanna be your sun", As we all know, the earth and all the planets in our solar system revolves around the sun, as such, we build our lives around the sun, she says it clearly though, she doesn't want to be your sun, she doesn't want to be all you revolve around and nothing else. She tells us we have better things to do with our time, and we should learn to prioritize our work to do and not only focus on kpop, even if theres a lot of content to catch up with. I just want to tell you its okay not to watch all of the content in a particular fandom. Basically, hwasa tells us that we shouldn't only revolve our lives around kpop and that we should also learn to prioritize, or else we won't be the only ones unhappy, the idols themselves are unhappy when we start getting into trouble or not reach our full potential because kpop becomes a hinderance to us. She tells us instead, kpop should be an inspiration and strength to keep going on and help us attain our full potential. Well, that's at least how i interpreted it after reading that comment, also that comment was a bit short and i did elaborate on the lyrics used (after thinking about it for a few days) in the way i interpreted it , but i feel like there's an important lesson behind all of this. Thank you so much for reading so far if you did

oH and this was just my interpretation of the mv, so it may not necessarily be what hwasa meant, im sorry

For those who feel sad after see this explanation , you would be more sad after you heard what hwasa said in her life bar show interview , IN REAL LIFE THAT GUY WHO’S IN THE BEDROOM SCENE IS ACTUALLY REPRESENT HWASA IN HER PAST RELATIONSHIP, AND HWASA REPRESENT THE OFFICE GUY SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH IN REAL LIFE , SO SHE WAS ACTUALLY THE TWIT IN THE FIRST PLACE . I HOPE SHE ALREADY GET OVER THAT GUY , THEY BEEN IN A RELATIONSHIP FOR 2 AND A HALF YEARS BEFORE, I DON’T KNOW WHEN SHE BREAKUP WITH HIM , BUT SHE DATED THAT GUY WHEN SHE ALREADY BECAME A SINGER .i hope she would be with someones that really appreciate her next time .

Omgowd I almost cried watching this. Thank you so much for telling this. Thank you so much Hwasa❤️❤️🥺 I can relate so much. For years I always had feel like that barren tree and there’s this guy I know shouldnt love me. I pushed him away and sometimes I wish he comes back but the same time if he do, I don’t love him as much as he loves me. I’m sorry for writing so much but it makes sense to me and relatable to my favorite artist. I love my mama Hwasa 😍😍❣️she’s the best.

@dolce.luna083 жыл бұрын
Very true... As this is Hwasa said what is the meaning of Twit. Hwasa replied with a laugh, “That’s true. But [the song] is telling a person who foolishly loves me far too much, ‘You’re a fool.’ So in a way, in this song, I think that the word ‘fool’ has a positive meaning.” She went on to elaborate, “This person [in the song] is someone who purely and innocently gives me his love, like a fool. But because I have too many things that I want to achieve and too much ambition, this man that I’m calling a fool ends up coming second [to my other priorities].” “So I think it’s partly about telling that person, ‘You’re a fool,’ in order to justify my own behavior,” she explained.
