These songs are a musical, visual, spiritual masterpiece. Hwasa is an amazing artist, vocalist & strong woman. Her & MAMAMOO’s music really touches me emotionally. I genuinely enjoy every song they’ve produced, composed & written themselves. They have their own say in every aspect of their art which makes me connect and relate to them as individuals. I’m not a big fan of K-pop besides BTS, I find MAMAMOO is one of those artists that I can listen to, probably because I don’t consider their music K-pop. I see them as soulful, RnB artists, who express themselves. They are not a cookie cutter product manufactured by a large corporation. They come from a small company that focuses on vocal artists allowing them to create their music the way they want to. MAMAMOO fighting! Your loving, supportive, loyal fan from Canada 🇨🇦💚

Yes, they are or started out as KPop but it’s undeniable that they are beyond any one genre. Even from their debut song, they broke from the norm and sang a jazzy doo wop. Their style is different and fresh from other KPop songs. And when you achieve the status of creating music uniquely yours, you surpass labels/boxes and become legends paving your own way. I feel the same that BTS and Mamamoo are on similar paths and simpático musically. Much love to both.

Hwasa is a complete artist. A singer just going up on stage trying to look and act cool with songs written by someone else probably without neither singing live...there are so many out there and with many fans...why those ppl are stanning them? For their expensive looks? For their pretty faces? A singer should have a message to share with people, shoul be someone to look up to. Hwasa is incredible, her artistry, her skills are insane and I'm so proud to stan her.

as a moomoo, it's tiring to spend most of the days fending of her h/aters because they get abusive to the point of shaping mmm's and hwasa's public image that have developed and improved over time. hwasa is a strong woman for baring herself in her art and it's even more sad that people are easy to assault her from mere assumptions and paint her character with it. i hope one day she'll finally get the light on her image not only within those that know and support her, but in the general public too.

Thank you for breaking these songs down David 💕 I really hope that in the future Korea will be more openminded towards people who don't fit the standards and think outside the box. I know a lot of people say it but idols aren't manufactured! Yes they've been trained and conditioned but they have their own thoughts and worries and bad moments too. They just aren't allowed to express that and I hope that changes so we can get more beautiful art like Maria and LMM. They all have a story, it just hasn't been told yet.

she isn't even my bias but i will always have the softest spot for this girl right here, like i just want to hide her away from this ugly world and protect her bc she doesn't deserve even half of the hate she gets. it's so draining being a mamamoo fan on kpop stan twitter bc all antis do is bring up mamamoo's past mistakes and jump on bandwagon hate, especially against hwasa just because she 'looks different.' i'm so tired. they keep REFUSING to see how beautiful, talented, and genuine this person is, and all the more refusing to see that she is a person first before she is a kpop idol. i love her so much and as much as i want to hide her away from this ugly world, i want to show her off to the world so it could hopefully see her the way i see her, too.

I've actually always taken the "Whee" (or Hwi part as you translated it) as a reference to MMM's Wheein. We all know they've been best friends for a very very long time and the line says "Whee... comforts me". We also know Wheein represents the Wind (beucase of her name sounding like the onomatopoeia for wind blowing, the White *Wind* album is Wheein's album and she's also wind in their Star *Wind* Flower Sun song). I think it has a double meaning that ties in with the previous lyrics, but also her love for Wheein who she knows will always be there for her to comfort her when she's feeling down. Furthermore, what also kinda made me "confirmed" that this line is a reference to Wheein is that when the MV was finally subbed, the actual lyrics are "Whee- Comfort me".

I was working in Seoul when Mamamoo released egotistic. Hwasa wasn’t a solo artist yet but the group were so famous. They were always on TV shows and commercials, and their songs were always on the radio. I remember being at work and hearing my female Korean colleagues talking about Mamamoo saying they were too ugly to be idols. They specifically spoke about Hwasa being fat, and too dark skinned. I’ll never forget it. I was so shocked. When I started to really get into MMM I asked a taxi driver if he liked Mamamoo and he said ‘yes, they are great singers, my wife likes them. My favourite is the fat one, she acts like a foreigner’ ???? I can only guess he was talking about Hwasa. Hwasa is definitely the most famous Mamamoo member but she definitely divides a opinions. Some think she’s bold, and beautiful. Others say she is too curvy, too dark and behaves like a western artist. Personally, I love her. I hope she never changes

Thank you so much for this. Reading the lyrics was good, I almost thought I understood. But then listening to your explaining made me realize the true meaning of both her songs. She's a truly beautiful artist. It's tiring to see her get constantly bashed and hated on social media. She's one of the most iconic and famous celebrities, she express power and freedom. Yet, people rather like the "frame and fake". Not to be offensive to any other k-idols, but it explains why almost all of them act in a certain way. It's a shame that someone who's expressing his true self gets criticized while idolizing those who follow a certain rule. After all this is everywhere not just in korea. Other than that. The "Hwi comforts me" part of LMM made me think of Whee In from mamamoo aka her friend from 11 years now. They are very close like sisters. So maybe Hwi comforts me means that when going through hard times Whee In is there for her. Very probable though. Thanks again. It made me love her songs and her even more. OMG. This explanation just took my respect for this channel and Hwasa on a other level. The way you took each and every line of both songs and explained it to us 👏👏👏👏👏.

Hwasa is seriously amazing, I've always highly respected her but after HIP and María came out I just... there are no words to describe how much I admire her now, she's not only a very real wonderful person but also an amazing artist

wow artists like her deserves more attention and love for these great music ..she is now in a place where she can release these music that expressed the point when she's being drowned by darkness and i am so glad that she was able to lift herself up and start to love and accept herself. she's probably still in the process and i hope she continues until she's able to know and understand herself even more. i hope her members and her agency, her staff will always be around her to support and guide her to the right decisions. and even if she makes a mistake, i hope she will not be too hard on herself ♥

I'm patiently waiting for a Hwasa and Namjoon collab because can we just take a moment to imagine all the idioms and word plays and amazingness that would come out of that. Thank you so much for explaining all these word plays and meanings that I wouldn't get just by reading the lyrics - they give such depth to these songs that I could never reach otherwise.

Maria was like a representation for everyone going through or have gone thru the same. I love how she put all her passion and dedication in this beautiful creation. Now it's not just music, she turned this into an art.

When I first saw that part in her Maria music video, it instantly reminded me of Malena.
