As always, Great video packed full of fantastic information. I don't think I have ever seen a shop tour of your place. Might make a good video.

I have a set screw in the bottom of the table tee slot. I also have a hash mark on the front table edge in line with this set screw. I also have a hash mark on saddle that supports the table. When the two hash marks are aligned I can remove the set screw and drop oil through the set screw hole onto the cross feed nut lubricating it. I do not know if this is common to all Bridgeports or a previous owner added it. I also have a shallow round bottom trough milled all of the way around the periphery of the table which is extremely handy for laying drills, taps, and etc. so that they do not roll off when being exchanged, yet does not collect much in terms of swarf.

The configuration that you have was common for the Zerk lubrication machines and is from the factory. Once Bridgeport went to the one shot lube they removed the set screw and the alignment marks. The biggest problem we see with that configuration is the way lube is designed to drip on the X screw, run around it and drip down to the Y screw but the line down to the Y screw gets blocked very quickly. -Barry

Would dte 24 work for the way oil?
@HWMachRepair28 күн бұрын
No, that is a hydraulic oil, which is what the spindle oil is. The issue is that hydraulic oil has no tact built in to help it stick to the way surface.
@jeremiahmusser770728 күн бұрын
@HWMachRepair OK, dte 24 would work for the spindle if I use a couple drops? Also, is there a good way oil you recommend
@HWMachRepair27 күн бұрын
@@jeremiahmusser7707 We sell way oil on our website, but any lightweight way oil will work. Do not go any thicker than Vactra 2 - machinerypartsdepot.com/product/way-oil/

Doesn''t the J head have a drop of heavy medium oil down the drawbar too
@buckinthetree12333 жыл бұрын
I read that somewhere at sometime. It could possibly say that on the lubrication instructions on the side of my machine. It says to lower the quill 2 inches and add a few drops of medium to heavy oil. I do it to my mill. I did however learn in this video that I am over lubricating my machine, and I also learned that my way oil may be a little too thick.

Read that too about a drop of oil down the drawbar. @Barry, does this need to be done?

On the step pulley head, is it still spindle oil for the bull gear?
@HWMachRepair Жыл бұрын
When we rebuild a head we pack the bull gear with EP-1 grease. There isn't a way to get to the bull gears on a step pulley externally which is why we recommend packing grease when the head is apart.

@@HWMachRepair ok, I saw that in the video. Is the upper most oil cup filled with spindle oil?

I have a parts manual for the #2, but I can't get parts for it. There is a company called Parts-n-Parts that can get you parts, but they can be expensive. If you would like me to send you the manual you can email me at support@hwmachinerepair.com
