The LoP in the lower house is a tough job. Whoever holds it will have to be thoroughly versed in the working of the lower house or Lok Sabha. But as has been pointed in many of the media debates over the last 24 hours, it is not a Constitutional position. Yes the post carries with it certain privileges and perks of office. The recognition awarded to it is equivalent to that of a cabinet minister, which in itself is not a Constitutional position.

If you notice, when Rahul Gandhi is speaking in parliament, the biased camera man is mostly focusing on Om birla's ugly frowning mug.
