Dear Doctor Anne, Thank you for another informative and educational video! I've also tried and liked the Inkey List HA serum. Since most of us are here to learn about actual practical and proper use of ingredients and products, I'm glad that you've mentioned that *HA (serums) should be followed by an occlusive product, but I'm surprised that you haven't mentioned that one should apply layers of hydrating toner before HA (serums)* to avoid dehydration. I feel like this bit of crucial information would have been helpful to us non-scientific folk. :)
@DoctorAnne3 жыл бұрын
I (partly) disagree with you on that, I don´t think a hydrating toner is necessary. But you are right, damp skin is beneficial, which can also be achieved by not patting your face dry entirely after cleansing. Thank you for adding this.

Hello! I really enjoyed your HA tutorial. I knew a lot of the information you gave, but I have researched the science behind skin care for YEARS. I was surprised to learn of HA's role in wound healing, but when you explained, it made perfect sense. Also, I never thought about the molecular weight issue before. Not sure how one finds out the molecular weight, but I will look into it for sure. Thank you for a great video!

I was surprised when I read about it´s role in wound healing as well, I found that fascinating. And it makes the whole moist wound healing/ colloid dressing thing make even more sense.

@@sulakaricats ive been told that if there isnt enough moisture in the air the HA pulls the moister from our skin that's why it has the drying effect. It actually depends on the humidity of your environment, so hot and dry climates (or air-con) could provoke that. Using it underneath an occlusive layer might help, or otherwise switching to another humectant.
@DoctorAnne3 жыл бұрын
@@snezanavl8580 That is true, but it can usually be helped with using it underneath a moisturizer that forms an occlusive layer and applying it to damp skin. But switching to another humectant is obviously fine too.

I wanted to like hyaluronic acid 😕!... but from all the brands I tried, I still find it sticky and difficult to use before sunscreens!!!.. nowadays, most hydrating products include some type of hyaluronic acid... the hada labo products contain many forms of this ingredient ...like niacinamide... and most recently, centella asiatica is everywhere....sometimes turning the back of products to read the ingredients help...it certainly can help in reducing the exaggerated products people are unnecessarily using 😀....
@DoctorAnne3 жыл бұрын
I agree, both Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid are already abundant in many products. As for the texture - have you tried the one by The Inkey List? I find it to be absolutely non-sticky, a first in this category. But as you said, you probably don´t need a separate one.

Is it beneficial or used in the treatment of scleroderma? Is HA ever administered internally?
@DoctorAnne3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are Hyaluronic Acid supplements, but I don´t think they are helpful. And regarding scleroderma - to my knowledge Hyaluronic Acid is not among the first line therapy, at least not in topical form, but it is not my area of expertise.

I have acne scars, they are pits, but they are very small. Is there a product that can treat them? Should I use a medical peeling? What do you think is better for the skin, Carbote peeling or acid peeling for this case

For the treatment of acne scars, especially the pitted one, you need to see someone in person. Which treatment is best for you needs to be assessed by someone that is able to see your skin.

That depends on your skin. Most will need a moisturizer afterwards to keep the hydration in, but in very humid climates or if your skin is oily, it might be enough for you on its own.

Very curious to know: does hyaluronic acid have adverse effects if you live in a desert environment? I know to apply it with damp skin and add an occlusive layer to lock everything in but I wasn’t sure if it ended up pulling water out of my skin bc of the dry environment.
@DoctorAnne3 жыл бұрын
When there is very low humidity, it will draw water from the deeper layers, that might happen. If that is relevant in terms of skin hydration though is debatable. You probably need to see how your skin feels if you are living under these circumstances.

Thanks for aharing dr.If you were to suggest 5 products for someone with a sking more mature than actual age what would those be including brands? From cleanse and exfoliate to hyaluronic acid, moisturizer and sunscrewn?

I would never recommend a specific brand, rather specific ingredients to look for. I have two videos on that already, they are called "Which ingredients work for antiaging" and "When should I start anti-aging products"
@moose87623 жыл бұрын
It is crazy that hyaluronic acid was the trending ingredient for a while. It is hard to tell what is trending at the moment. CBD and azelaic acid seem to be growing in popularity. Tranexamic acid seems like a newbie that brands could push on people as well. For me, only retinol and green tea really deserve trending status. Mainly because most of the other trending ingredients are literally in every single product or are exfoliating acids. I am not convinced by ascorbic acid - maybe THD ascorbate could be more interesting if studied better. I defend green tea as trending worthy because I find it almost as anti-inflammatory as azelaic acid without dryness, it is probably a good antioxidant and has a better time getting into the skin than vitamin C, and reduces sebum production. The only non-exfoliating ingredient that has made a notable difference to my skin - so I have ordered multiple products with much greater than 3% to see if the effects are replicated/boosted. I did hear that it is an ingredient that becomes more effective at higher concentrations as long as it is formulated properly

Green Tea extract is among the ingredients that I have on my list for one of these Ingredient Spotlight videos, but they are so much work!

@@DoctorAnne soy and turmeric are similarly sources of polyphenolic antioxidants. Turmeric won't be working the best in cosmetics because of the staining.
