Yea, not gonna have us like that. Sounds like a dealership trying to push out their new C43 inventory. Many KZbin channels (Sam Car Legion, Car Wow, Throtle House) have lined up the W205 vs W206 and the new car is slower both from a dig and in rolling races and yea it sounds terrible too just like it's new C63 brother. The new C63 is at least a significantly better performer than the previous Gen

I've already had the pleasure of competing with my C43 against an E53 on the German autobahn. The C43 was always superior. Here we are talking about sprints of ~100 km/h to the end.😂

Don't knock it till you've tried it! Have you driven the new AMG C43 yet? As for reliability, is that just an assumption because it's a 4 cylinder? The motor is fairly new and is a newer version of the M139 in the CLA45 that debuted in 2020. That variant has been quite problem free.

Thank you for watching and commenting. During the debrief, the 3 presenters shared your opinion that the new one is very refined and, as a result, does not always feel as fast as the older one. One has to appreciate what AMG was able to achieve with that 2.0L motor. In the new C63S E-Performance, it makes almost 470hp! The world's most powerful production 4 cylinder! We do miss the roar of the V8 though... it's coming back in the CLE63 😁!

W205 c43 needs all traction off, s+ and brake boost to around 2k rpm and then slam it to launch. If mb put a v6 or v8 back into c63 with awd, then I will consider upgrade the w205 c43. With a tune, w205 can easily hit 3.6 0-100 and it sounds way better with performance exhaust. The w206 interior and new mbux does look nice though, I will give it that

Race Start in the 206 makes a difference. All cars in this test were stock. A tuned 205 would have likely performed better.

What happen with the start launch for the C43 in the salom challenge? It took almost 2 seconds just to start accelerating?

He tried to brake boost it but held for too long, causing the car to bog off the line. It had a minimal impact on the slalom time as your average speed is the biggest factor. Regardless, it wouldn't have changed the placement had he not bogged the start as the gap was quite large from the other 2.

@MercedesBenzDowntownCalgar A bad start like that is worth at least 2 seconds, which would have been enough to beat the C63 given there was only a second between them. 1:22 for the C63 and 1:23 for the C43. So 2 seconds would have changed the outcome.

The guy who drove the W205 C43 did not lunch it as well. To get the best launch from the old C43 takes a bit of practice. So, this race was not definitive. The new c43 has a computer launching it which is why it is faster. If you removed all the computer stuff, I highly doubt the results would be like what you saw in the video.

The new 206 C43 is a lot easier to launch than the last gen 205 with the addition of race start. The previous gen does not have the E-Turbo technology or race start, which overcomes turbo lag. However, in the third race, the 205 jumped the start and still lost to the 206.

The curb weights posted are available on several Mercedes-Benz sites. A simple Google search will deliver similar weights. There is a variance of about 100 lbs on some sites. These differences can be attributed to dry/ fully loaded measurements and optional equipment or specs by model.

@@MercedesBenzDowntownCalgary When you want to launch a car yeah , obliviously if it has ‘launch control’, you put it in launch control and after that, hold down the brakes with your left foot and and press down on the accelerator with your right foot, before letting off the brakes ….. if the car doesn’t have launch control , you can do that also still and it’ll give the same results , depending on if the car is 2WD or 4WD

@@favour8476 That is consistent with how we normally launch the vehicles. The 2023 AMG C43 Sedan does have race start however, we noticed a slight delay after releasing the brake. Even though it had a delayed start it still rocketed away! We all tried different launches for each car but, the results were all quite consistent in the end. We will provide more detail when launching vehicles in the moment when filming the future. Truly appreciate your feedback.

The 206 with race start makes launching pretty simple. Sport+, one foot on gas, one on the brake, race start active displays on instrument cluster, release brake, and lift off!

It does make 451hp... here's something that might not be what you want to hear... but it turns out that C63 had a performance package too... 481hp was the actual output... the red calipers are part of the performance package. The new 206 C43 has a very advanced launch control that uses the e-turbo F1 tech to deliver maximum boost immediately at launch. The 205 (last gen) did not have any form of launch control available. The wheels on the 205 were aftermarket however, the tire sizes are factory equipment sizes.
