Great setup and thanks again for the video. 2 questions. 1) How is the analog gear connected - prior to it hitting the analog inputs of the SSL console or do you do them as inserts once they are on the SSL channel? 2) I am curious as to your monitoring setup - I notice 3 sets of speakers, so with that I assume you have a separate monitor box. Correct?

I forgot to add you have to depress the ALT button on 9-16 this will route the audio to the faders. So press Post, depress Alt 9-16, then press ALT on CHIP which will route the audio to the faders and then out the busses.

Thanks Weezna! So, the obvious question: do you feel this analogue gear gives you a sound you can't get in the box? Also, how do you handle mix recalls? Thanks for the great rundown - Jol.

After mixing audio for this long, of course for ease of use and recalls, in the box mixing definitely is easier. But I do find that plug-ins in general are not as good at doing smooth EQ, certain types of compression, and emulating tubes and transformers. For me I do truly think that analog gear is still superior to plug-ins. With that being said every year plug-ins do get better and better. Most importantly though, the analog gear makes it exciting for me, which is definitely a reason why I choose to mix like this

Cool video on very nice setup. Makes me wonder how all is routed. All through the patchbay for flexibility or dedicated daisy chained for each channel? I like to draw my routing on paper or CAD to build my rack.

Most units are run separately to the patchbay but there are a few chains that are connected together bc of patchbay space

@@TrueSoundTV I’d say, time for an additional patch bay 😉 But you mostly routed it like I would, separate to the patch bay for flexibility. I like your approach in mixing!

Hi Im looking at the Ward Beck Eq, but I only see the Console Modules M472. Now can those fit in a 500 chassis or they need to be used in a mixing console?
