Simplest configuration would be: solar array >> solar charge controller >> BATTERY

Yes... I was told by a manufacturer that separate charge controller should be used for each of solar and wind turbine... More efficient.

Shouldn't there be a dump load involved when a wind turbine is involved to keep the turbine from going into highspeed freewheeling that can damage it?

What happens when the batteries are full and the sun is still charging and the wind is blowing? is a dump load involved?

outputs of solar and wind turbines are different as DC and AC..then how both of them stored in battery without conversion of any one of them???
@WAKANDA-AFRICAN23 күн бұрын
There is DC generating wind terbine which used brush and commutator unlike the AC generating (most common) syncronous motor which generates AC.

Interesting, but which dual or multiple power source charge controllers are affordable for small, off grid customers and yet are scalable for when they want to add more power source capacity or more storage & load demands?

I recommend Missouri Wind and Solar hybrid charge controller here mwands.com/shop/product/dual-wind-turbine-charge-controller

I built a whole PV/Wind power system in the early 1980s for a total of $1300. It consisted of a Winco 650W Wind generator, two ARCO solar panels, two deep-cycle marine batteries, a 1,000 watt inverter, with a backup gas generator. The one weakness was I didn't have a good charge controller, I tried to use an auto regulator. Just now looking at Amazon, I found several controllers that would have done the job nicely for under $500 (today's money). That would have given me a very robust power supply for three people in a 700 sq ft single-wide, transplanted to the Mojave Desert.

@@edwardhanson3664 Wow! That was pretty creative for back in the 80's. But yeah, the problem would have been a proper charge controller. Nowadays, with great solid state electronics & microcontrollers, this is a fairly straightforward problem to solve. My limited understanding is that today's hybrid wind/solar charge controllers also feature a dump load output for when the batteries are at 100% but power is still being generated. Dump load can go to a resistor or electric hot water heater or something else that can use the excess power on demand. Off grid power systems have come a long way since the 1980's. Kudos to you for getting as far as you did back then.

Hi. Correct me Sir if I am wrong. This inverter can't take both wind and solar at the same time. So in a windy and sunny day, one of the sources is wasted.
@RR426363 жыл бұрын
wrong. Inverter only cares about the battery. It doesn't see solar/wind.

@@RR42636 What am saying, does the inverter take energy from just one source at a time or can in get energy from the 2?
@eskanderx10273 жыл бұрын
@@semi5alpha Inverter doesn't "take energy" from solar/wind... The charge controller does and manages both.

@@eskanderx1027 Yes. Am asking does the system store energy from 2 sources at the same time?
@eskanderx10273 жыл бұрын
@@semi5alpha I think yes. If the charge controller knows to manage multiple inputs.
