Really appreciate your videos @tennisspin I’m a semi retired pro golfer whose been in the golf industry for over 14 years. My mother was a formal college player a long time ago. And since we moved to Vegas, we’ve been playing tennis a lot more since moving here. And as much as I feel I know in golf. Getting into tennis, I’ve really gotten into the tech of tennis rackets and strings. You’ve led me into a new world of customization of rackets and strings and I greatly appreciate it. Your videos have brought a new tennis player into the world and wanted to show you appreciation.

I tell my friends that I feel golf is the hardest sport to learn and tennis is next to it. You actually need to have skills or learn it to play. @Rafedavic Жыл бұрын
I use kirschbaum max power rough in my crosses with my gut mains as opposed to some of the more popular polys. Biggest reason being that it holds tension much better. I find with Alu power or rpm blast the crosses go loose rather quickly and you lose the control gained from the polly. Kirschbaum holds tension much better than other polyesters and therefore I get i much longer playability duration. A more accessible string that also holds tension well and would work similarly is lux 4g/4g rough. Tsitsipas has used gut/4g hybrid since having surgery. I find the kirschbaum to be more arm friendly while still holding the tension about as well and much more cost effective.

@@Unco_Drew Try head syn gut PPS 17g and gamma moto 17g. I use the syn gut in the mains because I like a softer feel, but it works great with the poly in the mains, too. The syn gut in the mains is a true poor man's Fed setup. If you break strings, switch to gamma tnt2 for the syn gut. It's more durable, but has a little less feel, imho. Tension also matters a lot. IMO, for non-professionals that'd like to try natural gut, just do the full set gut and adjust the power by tuning the tension. Tried Gut/Poly hybrid before, it kind of expires after maybe 10hours of hitting, because of the imbalance in tension loss. I've even tried an extreme tension difference of 3kg/6lbs (poly being higher one), in the hope to compensate the eventual tension loss in the poly, doesn't work, poor feel at the beginning, equally poor towards the end of life. On the other hand, full set of gut is just magical on denser string pattern of 18/20, nice soft feeling with plenty of feedback, and not over-powering!
@Reakerboy4 жыл бұрын
I've tried hybrids, gut, synthetic gut, poly mains, poly crosses but I always go back to a full bed of Co-Poly, I just like the harsher more impact feel a stiff Co-Poly gives. I guess it's what you like which is important. I certainly don't like a Mushy feel off the string bed but that's what I'm used to. I even found the Confidential to be a little soft for me, although it is a very good string, just not for me.

I'm skilled, and probably a 4.0 at this time. I am a bigger guy and can produce power on my own so I bought more of a "pro" racket for control. What types of string/string combos should I be looking at for more control and spin? I have poly in my racket right now and am liking it, but I'm hearing it doesn't hold tension well. How often do you guys that play weekly have to restring poly? Just looking for some ideas to try out. Thanks
@Reakerboy4 жыл бұрын
I've been playing full poly bed for many years. Depending on the Poly and how much you're playing will determine how much you need to restring. A general rule of thumb. You should restring your racket every year the same amount of time you play per week. E. G., if you play 3 times per week, then you should restring 3 times per year. I would say a good club player should be restringing at least every 3 months, no longer. Most polys drop tension but some more than others. 👍🏻

Currently have Confidential 1.20 mains at 21.5kg and NRG2 1.32 crosses at 23kg in my Ultra Tour. I love the comfort and the feel for touch shots/volleys etc. What I don't like is the amount of power without being able to control it enough with spin. It's a 18x20 and the edgy mains lock into my soft crosses so there's hardly any snapback. So for next string job, I'm thinking either Confidential or Tour Bite Soft mains with slick, round Poly Tour Pro crosses. Both 1.20 gauge probably. Do you guys think this will work for upping the spin potential? Of course it will be less comfortable but still comfortable enough for me because I'll string both at low tensions and UT is a plush frame. Or do you have another idea that will have better spin potential than the Confidential/NRG2 setup I have now while still retaining a nice level of comfort?

Try Revolve 17 125mm (the round black version) mains and Head PPC Syn Gut 17 crosses both at 49lbs. Cheap and very efective for 2 weeks (4 times a week frequency)

Natural gut Mains 27kg / Luxilon Alu Rough Crosses 25.5 kg Best of the best :)

I tried to cross with All power to get more durability out of the gut, but found the Alu power rough has better snap back. Going back to the rough version.
